Difference with AA vs britishairways.com Avios availability for AA flights?

Looking to book MIA-RTB (Roatan, Honduras) and AA says rewards are available, but a search on the BA website returns nothing. Do I need to call BAEC for some AA redemptions or are some of them just impossible for some reason?

BA can only sell you AA saver rewards (the lowest level)
They do offer rewards for more points but only to members of AA advantage but BA can’t access those.
So it depends what type of reward your seeing on the AA website.

Maybe it’s because it’s operated by Envoy Air as American Eagle?
In pretty sure you can (or could) redeem Avios on AA Eagle flights operated Envoy – so long as they are in the BA Avios/AA MileSAAver inventory.
I’ve done it a number of times to Key West from Miami.
If you can’t book a cash fare LHR-MIA-RTB on BA.com, then it may be a BA.com problem and you may need to call.

What’s the best way to uncover whether a specific flight is MileSAAver? The aa.com search doesn’t match what a lot of the online guides show in the calendar search. All I see is “WEB SPECIAL – MAIN Cabin Award”
Web specials are only bookable with aa miles and sometimes available when there’s no milessaver – it used to be easy to see that but doesn’t look so now…

Indeed. What used to be a simple process has become a baffling mess. Expert Flyer will identify MileSAAver availability where it exists but a lot of what used to be fairly easy pickings for avios redemptions just aren’t there anymore and consistently non-existent on so many routes. If this situation is permanent it represents quite a downgrade for avios holders.
