Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes Aer Lingus – Companion Voucher

  • 5 posts

I am Concierge Tier with Aer Lingus, and was issued a companion voucher, which I have used to book return flights to New York in business class from Manchester. I have been issued with a lounge pass, but my companion hasn’t. Aer Lingus customer services have advised that “companion vouchers don’t get access to the lounge, even when booked in business class” – Is this true?

I could always get access into the Escape Lounge, as I would be getting access using my Concierge+guest access. But we were hoping to go into the 1903 Lounge (for business class only) as we have friends travelling with us that also have access. Does the 1903 Lounge ask to see the specific lounge pass, or do they just accept the boarding card?

Thanks for any help or advice you can offer.

Well done on finding business class seats from MAN!
Aer Lingus lounge rules are really complicated, there’s a thread over on Flyertalk explaining them, and an article here on HFP, iirc.

I was in T3 last week and 1903 was closed, not sure if this is a long term thing or what 🤷‍♀️

I booked them through the concierge helpline late last year. At the time of phoning them, the whole business class cabin was unsold. So i used upgrade vouchers for 2 friends and a companion for my wife. The upgrade voucher booking have been sent the lounge pass, but the companion voucher hasn’t. It seems utterly crazy to me that Aer Lingus would not provide a lounge pass to someone booked in business class!

I just looked at the pinned thread on Flyertalk, but it was created in 2013 and doesn’t seem particularly up to date. I’ve had a look for the equivalent on here and can’t find it.

But if 1903 is still closed anyway it may be a moot point.

Do you know if either of the lounges actually ask to see the voucher? I have vouchers sent to me all the time when travelling through Dublin – but the AL lounge never asks to see it – just the boarding card. I assume that with the Aspire/1903 being partner lounges they will want to the printed voucher?

Apologies, I assumed you were talking about the BA Amex companion voucher to book with avios but this may not be the case?

EI status is a bit niche on here so I still think you’ll find more info in general on FT – if you register and post this question in a relevant forum you’ll more than likely get an informed response!
