Seen their social media suggesting starting a route to London.
Not sure about 13-14 hours on a LCC economy but have been on their 2-2-2 lie flat seats and they were pretty good.
Thoughts anyone ?
It might be a codeshare with one of LCCs in Gulf or a fuel stop there.
LCCs rarely work on long haul, let’s see how long it lasts.
I flew over 10 years ago with Air Asia from KUL-LON. Awful experience.
I did Sydney-KL and someone played a banjo. never again!! The “lie flat” seat is not bad though I did that to Colombo and it’d be good to Asia at the right price
We used Air Asia many years ago to fly from London to KL. We paid extra for a business type seat which offered extra room and food for only a little more. I think eventually they were removed. It was one of their first flights and we couldn’t fault it. Have flown many times with Air Asia around SEA. I remember on one occasion being the only person paying for a seat reservation which was only a couple of pounds. I was escorted to the plane ahead of anyone else. Once I was comfortably seated, before the remaining passengers were allowed to board, including the rest of the family!
Also remember flying Oasis airlines to Hong Kong soon after they started flying from London. They were fine too. Took the hydro foil to Macau and then Viva Macau to Australia.
Their lie flat seat pricing is generally around half the price of a J full service airline in Asia.
If paying cash and ignoring the need for tier / avios points, its definitely an option not to be sniffed at IMO.
Just hoping it won’t be another Scoot like SIN-ATH reputation.
Scoot had one of the best recliners. Perfect for trips up to 3-4 hours. Dont know if they are still available.
The problem is the LCCs keep changing and chopping these premium offerings.
Indigo in India is having the same problem as it grows out of domestic market. Luckily they have understood the mistakes of others and ordered brand new A350s. Just hope they offer meals in economy (no chance of success if long haul doesnt include meals) and charge for everything else.
