Forums Payment cards American Express Amex card cancelled two years ago, should I reapply it again?

    Hi, appreciated for any suggestion.

My partner and my Amex CC were suspended then cancelled two years ago without being told the exact reason but it might connect with the income question, which I never lied, or we cancelled CC frequently every 6 months or hitted target.

Is it possible that I can start to apply for another Amex CC since it’s over 2 years, or just forget it as Amex will defintely reject it? I have used most Barclays and HSBC cards now so will be good to go back to Amex.

    Thanks again.

The most definitely answer you’ll get here is “maybe: try”. Everyone’s circumstances will be different and AMEX criteria will have changed over time as well.

If you’re looking for examples, I’m sure some will have been successful but others might not have. The likelihood of those examples matching your exact circumstances or AMEX’s exactly view of you are unlikely, so won’t be comparable.

That being said, if you do try, do let us know how you get on (as long as people realise that whatever happens to you may or may not happen to them)

If you want to maximise your chances of success you might want to check your file with the often overlooked National Hunter. Problems caused by that database won’t go away quickly.

If it’s just internal Amex policy then I think no-one will know in advance what your chances are. Personally I’d leave it a little longer to be sure I’m well over any 24 month + some arbitrary and unknown number of days/weeks threshold.
