Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Amex Companion Voucher Booking Buenos Aires

  • 5 posts

Morning, I am looking to book a trip to Argentina and I know currently the BA flight stops in Rio (previously Sao Paulo) Brazil. If I wanted to book this using Amex companion voucher, would it be possible to book it so that you take the Rio – Buenos Aires leg of the trip a couple of days later i.e. treat as a stop over and if so assume that’s a booking to make over the phone as opposed to booking online?

    Any tips greatly appreciated.

@MandyD – yes, you are allowed to do that but it isn’t necessarily an ideal option. Once you are in Rio, there are lots of fairly inexpensive flights you can take which fly into Aeroparque which is a whole lot more convenient than Ezeiza for immigration, access to the city and onward domestic flights. It does also mean you are stuck to that one early morning BA flight and if there are any issues with it, I’m not sure what would happen with rerouting.

If you did an open jaw LHR-GIG//EZE-LHR it should save a few Avios and £ to put towards the regional ticket. I’m sure you are aware that it’s an awful lot cheaper to book this trip starting in Madrid and returning to London which also offers more flexibility as Iberia has 2/3 flights a day to EZE.
