Forums › Payment cards › American Express › Amex Dining – London and Sydney recommendations?

Hi
As per title. Got a few days in London coming up then a holiday to Oz.
Looking at using Amex Plat dining credits.
We eat most things – anyone got any go to London restaurants (we are staying at ICPL), or Sydney?
Thanks

Yes. Was just looking for personal recommendations.
We used our credit at Fallow in London over the summer. We would certainly return.
Café Sydney is a great Plat option there which I visit without the credit. One poster who followed this recommendation complained that the portions were small so if that is your gauge of a good restaurant, CS isn’t for you, but it does offer the best of modern Australian cuisine well presented, great wine list (including lots of fine wines by the glass). Excellent service. It’s on the top floor of the Customs House so offers great classic Sydney views if you book on the terraces and the inside has a good atmosphere as well.
In London, Clos Maggiore in Covent Harden and Launceston Place in Kensington are good options. CM has very good value set menus at lunch time and pre/post-theatre. Smart surroundings, good service and relatively reasonable wine list. Launceston Place is particularly good at lunch time, again with very reasonable, delicious set menu by an extraordinary chef, great service, all in very civilised surroundings.
Many thanks – will have a look at those.
Used our credit a couple of years ago in the Meat & Wine Co – there are 3 in Sydney it seems but we went to the one in Bangaroo
Having followed JDB’s advice I found Cafe Sydney to be a great choice, the portion size was as expected and not a disappointment.

If you like modern French/European style food, highly recommend Monopole in Sydney CBD – they’ve recently rebranded as explicitly more “French” – either way very good.

Enjoy your holiday
I would second Fallow but also we love Barrafina ….
