Forums Payment cards American Express Amex Gold / BAPP Bonuses

  • 1 post

My partner is coming up to 2 years since hes held an American Express card. He’s going to apply for the Gold card, get the bonus tben cancel. Am i right in thinking he can then get the British Airways Premium Plus card straight away and still be eligible for the bonus on that card?

    Thanks

Sorry i misread your post at first – yes that’s correct. Apply for Gold then BA PP and your partner will be eligible for bonuses on both cards.

Bear in mind though, there is a higher bonus offer of 50k on the BA PP card until mid feb.
So if they can put £3k through on the gold then apply for the BA PP before then, that would be the way to go.
Otherwise might be worth skipping gold and applying straight for BA PP

As the Gold is free for the first year, you could keep the card rather than cancel straight away.

Also be aware applying for two cards in quick succession may not get approval, so if the BAPP is more useful (e.g. you want the 241 voucher) then may be best going straight for that one.
