    For those of us that received the text message several days after applying/being accepted, I’m beginning to wonder if the text message was more of a ‘we have just dropped your card off in the post’ sort of message.

    I’d expect it to be the start date of your first statement period.

    Good point RE: when the clock starts counting down for the 3 months. I think given the current situation, Barclays should be starting this at the point the card is received or activated, given how long some of us have been waiting. I have no intention of activating my card until the second I receive it for this reason (and for security of course).

    Just had a chat with a really nice bloke from the twitter team. My application was approved on the 28th and my card dispatched on the 2nd. He has now blocked it and arranged for a new card to be sent out. Apparently they’ve had a few people who have had the pin and no card.
    He also confirmed the date which counts as the start date to hit spend targets is the date the account is opened. Barclaycard should really review that policy and change it to the date of activation perhaps.

    Approved 9 days ago, no card yet but had a statement with monthly fees charged and numerous emails and text about how to use the card. Great service Barclaycard.

    I think so. I received my card the day after I received the text message saying it will be with me in the next few days.

    It’s now 5 days since I had that text but no card to be seen.

    Same here and no idea if I’ve received a statement yet as I can’t register for the app without the card (I don’t hold any other Barclays products).

    Same here, I’ve emailed Barclaycard twice but no idea how long they take to respond. There’s no chat facility on the website, it directs you to Apple messenger which I’ve never heard of!

    Northernlass. I did try apple messenger but they were no help. I used twitter yesterday to #Barclaycard and they responded within an hour or so asking me to DM them my details and then they phoned me. They were very helpful and were aware of the problems with the new cards.

    Applied on 28 Feb. I’ve had several emails, including one about a statement, and my pin arrived a week ago but no card yet. Currently on the phone with Barclaycard. Afer 50 minutes hold I got through, the lady was able to find my account but she could not access it. On hold again while she speaks to a specialist team.

    The lady seems to be using a chat facility to talk with someone else in Barclays, it’s a painful process. Apparently the card was issued on 1 March. So they assume it is lost in the post and are issuing a new card. 4-5 days for new card to arrive.

    There is a £20 membership charge on my account already, I’m asking for this to be removed as it doesn’t make sense to charge me for a card that has not been actived yet.

    Also trying to confirm that the 3 month welcome bonus period has not started yet and won’t start until I activate the card.

    Now been on the call 1 hour 15 🙁

    3 month period started on 28 Feb. Apparently card policy means this cannot be changed or delayed. Seems grossly unfair as I have no card yet and probably won’t receive the replacement card unitl circa 18 March but they weren’t budging on it. @Rob can you apply any pressue on Barclaycard about this?

    For anyone else who has not received your card, I suggest ringing but make sure you are free for 90 minutes!

    Useful info. Thanks Terry. Think I’ll give them a call later if my card doesn’t arrive today. Shame they’re not budging on the 3 months. At this rate I’ll only have. 2 months.

    I’m not convinced all these cards are lost in the post. Sound more like a load of cards weren’t sent out. Just don’t want them to send me a new card and then the original one turns up.

    Had an email from Barclays – they have blocked the original card but I have to contact them by phone to request a new one as I contact them via a non-secure channel. This is turning into a complete shambles!

    When is the new offer supposed to be coming along? we might just give up on this card and apply for one for Player 2. We have £12k of non-Amex spending to do by late April and the idea was to use the card for that!

    I’m very unimpressed. I called Barclaycard late last week and the guy was friendly but pretty clueless. Couldn’t seem to access my account on any system he had access to. Said he was sending an email to request an update – I’m not holding my breath.

    Used iMessage chat yesterday instead. This person was not friendly, but had a little more of a clue. Said that the card was shipped on 8th March (despite approval on 1st) and it’s 3-5 business days from then. Offered to cancel the card and re-issue, but since the PIN arrived on Friday I figure I’ll wait a couple more days.

    Pushed for an extension on the offer period. Hilarious responses from the person. I said I couldn’t very well spend £3k on a card they haven’t sent. His response? “May I know the reason?” 🤦‍♂️😆

    Almost £1k of spend from a couple of nights away this weekend not being put through the card. No empathy. No apology. Just indifference. I couldn’t have felt more like an inconvenience to him. He eventually just gave up with “I understand your concern” then ended the chat.

    Me too. I have been using curve for my spends with a view to moving them across with the back in time functionality. Annoyingly though that underlying cards statement period closes tomorrow, so am too late to move across over 2k of big spends. I wouldn’t mind so much as other cards have taken a while to arrive too, but the texts and emails (after the botched application form) urging me to register a card I have yet to receive really make this feel more like I am dealing with a bedroom trader, rather than a big organisation.
