I travelled in July this year on a BA Holiday in Club World, the standard tier points posted by not the bonus ones. So I chase up and eventually get a response saying “Sorry our mistake, points have been posted”.
However my year end collection cut off was Sept so while today I have the original flights tier points carried forward, the bonus ones (which were retrospectively added by BA in Sept) haven’t carried. The said this is correct and only my previous collection period total and lifetime amounts should be updated.
I’m now on my third escalation that the total points earned in July should be carried forward to the reduced tier points collection period as per BAs new system (tier collection ending in March 31st 2025). ie all tier points earned from 1st April – 9th Sept (my collection cut off) should be carried forward towards period 10th Sept 2024 – 31st March 2025.
Am I right or are they?
I don’t think we have enough info to answer. The best way to think of it is:
A) TPs in 9 Sept 2023 to 8 Sept 2024 will be removed by the normal year end reset – lets call this adjustment “A”.
B) an adjustment (adjustment B) is them posted in late sept 2024 to reinstate the points within A that were earned 1 April 2024 to 8 Sept 2024. You then accrue points as normal for 8 Sept to 31 March 2025 – this ensures your points are counted once and once only in your new year to 31 March.
The key is whether the bonus TPs were in A, B or both.
If they were removed by A but not included in B, they need to be added back – so you are right.
If they weren’t stripped out by A, they don’t need to be included in B – so BA is right. You could also step through the transactions (ignoring A and B) and calculate TPs for flights flown 1.4.24 to date and compare that to your TP balance to demonstrate whether it is correct.
I think you are right @jambomb, all points earned between April 1st 2024 and March 31st 2025 are your current year’s points so should be counted.
