We have 4 passes burning a hole in my wallet and some opportunities to use them next month. 6 of us travelling. LHR-FRA-SIN-SYD-OOL…BNE-MEL-SIN-FRA-LCY
Our options are:
LHR Terminal 2 Plaza Premium- might be rejected as I believe it is international only
FRA Short layover
SIN Too many other things to explore
SYD (Domestic) – Rex Lounge – doesn’t look great, but Kids under 12 go free- so that’s 3 for the price of 1
BNE No Domestic lounges
MEL 3 international to choose from: Marhaba, Plaza Premium, The House
With 4 x under 12’s in tow- would you go to any of these?
Last time I looked, although we won the war, Germany remains a sovereign nation so not sure why you think “might be rejected as I believe it is international only”
More sensibly, for clarity it’s in the main part of T2 incase you’re thinking that lounge is in the satellite where the long haul planes go from.
Critically though you’re going to be paying out for 2 pax and you need to figure out the most cost effective way of doing that. I’d reckon you would get the most value at MEL where I just imagine it costs AU$5 to simply look at a bottle of water. If you’re travelling post 28/3, Heathrow have the kids eat free offer running and that PP Lounge is essentially a dungeon.
I would personally skip the Rex lounge at SYD (despite the free kids!). It’s quite small and dark and the offering isn’t great – T2 is reasonably pleasant and as you’re flying domestically arriving an hour before your flight will be plenty (unless you’re flying JQ on a Friday at peak time).
Thanks both.
@The_real_Swiss_Tony – of course Germany is technically International, but in aviation I always consider International v European v Domestic – due to these being quoted separately for Check-in guidance.
@Adder thanks – we’re JQ on the Tuesday lunchtime after Easter- but as you say, we wont need to hang around long.
Seems like the Melbourne lounges might be a good choice to finish our trip with a little treat. The kids of course wont be drinking, so vegetarian food offerings and somewhere to sit are the main priorities.
