Avios return to Heathrow, adding European leg

Is it possible to add another European leg onto a return flight from Europe to LHR for just a change fee?
Example: AMS-LHR change to AMS-LHR-NCE

Yes, change fee+ extra Avios + fare recalculation (it should be an RFS but they will call it a recalc)

Or just cancel and rebook online. The cost will be the same (or less, as people have been getting almost full refunds in some cases, due to BA’s glitchy IT).
