Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA Holidays double tier points offer – MASTER THREAD

Data point for others who may be waiting. Just been told by the Gold line that bonus tier points are currently taking 3-4 weeks to post. Mine have yet to appear after three weeks, but the chap I spoke to was confident that it would happen eventually. OK he probably would say that wouldn’t he, but effectively they won’t currently register missing points claims until four weeks after the return flight.

Thanks – useful to know. We got back on 29 Feb from a double TPs trip, regular TPs and BA Holidays extra Avios posted but nada on the double TPs.

I was missing my bonus tier points from a holiday I took between 19-26 February. This morning I contacted BA on the email address mentioned in the very first post of this thread, and lo and behold, the bonus tier points are now showing in my account.

I’m so happy about this that I’ve now also emailed the embassy of the country I’ve been waiting five months for a passport from. Let’s see if that has a similar speedy effect…

Our double TPs from a trip between 23-29 Feb have also just appeared, didn’t do any chasing up. Looks like someone remembered to feed the hamsters that turn the wheel powering the BA Holidays server.

Also took a trip on the week of the 19th, ending the 25th. Did no querying about the extra TPs and also received mine earlier today.

I do wonder how it works at times – I barely waited ten days (regular, not working) in January to receive them but this time it took almost a whole month.

That’s good to know. Still waiting for double points for holiday when return flight was on 4 March. Was about to chase, so will wait another week.

Returned on Saturday 16th March and the double tier points have posted today. I think this has been the speediest for me.

Is it normal that I’ve received the extra TPs for the outbound but not for the inbound yet? Both have been flown.

I’m back from a BA holiday that ended on Feb 20th and not seen the extra tier points yet – sent a chaser today

I can’t find a way to book a Flight + Car as a holiday. I can do Flight + Hotel. From what I’ve read I can’t just add car hire to a flight booking and have that count as a Holiday to get double tier points. What am I missing? Am I just being thick and missing an obvious button/web page?

UPDATE: sigh, I found it by chance https://www.britishairways.com/en-GB/destinations/book

Well, the option is on the BA booking page, but if you want a different duration of car hire from your flight dates, you need to use the customise trip tool.

The button for ‘Flight + Car’ is the one next to ‘Flight + Hotel’ on the main home page, so I suspect you are trying to find something the hard way.

If you end up on a page to select what you want (after you’ve entered your destination, dates etc) where the url starts with http://www.britishairways.com/badp then it’s a holiday booking.

This is the page I was looking on:

    https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/flights-and-holidays/holidays

I don’t see a Flight + Car. I got to it by hovering on the Discover menu item, then clicking Discover BA Holidays in the Holidays column of that dropdown menu.

My thinking was that for it to count as a BA Holidays booking it would need to be kicked off from the most likely BA Holidays homepage/lander. I guess not. Their information hierarchy is dreadful.

Can’t argue with the last point, but just start at ba.com and the basic Flight (only), Flight + Hotel, Flight + Car, etc options are right in front of you.

Thanks, good to know that all the “+” options count as a holiday/package no matter where instigated from.

@davefl thanks, that’s a pretty comprehensive search form! All the options.

Apologies if this has been answered; I did look but couldn’t seem to find a definitive answer (if there even is one).

How do I book a qualifying double-tier points BA Holiday where the five-night hotel stay is only for part of the trip? I’ll be flying out to JFK next month and then onward to another city (on a separate booking) for a few nights before returning to New York for the five-night hotel stay, then back home. Everything I’ve read says this qualifies for double-tier points, but I’m not sure how to actually make the booking. Is it this page (https://www.britishairways.com/travel/home/public/en_gb/) then flight + hotel > custom trip?

Or similar to Simon’s query above, and via this page: https://www.britishairways.com/en-GB/destinations/book?saleOption=FC&cabin=M

    Some other third way?

I’ve done various dummy bookings, and some say ATOL protected, others say they qualify, and half the time, I click something, and it sends me back to the home page! If anyone has had luck booking a more complicated itinerary and qualified and can shed some light, I’d be so grateful!

Just want to confirm that my thinking is correct…
If I go away for 4 nights to my destination from Glasgow, but on my way bay I have an overnight at Heathrow, it will still count as a 5 night holiday booking?
I know that Airport hotels are not included, but I assume that this is just for the pre first flight and post last flight, so mid-holiday airport hotels are still included in the 5 nights?

Thank you for any help in clarification or confirming on this.

    I would say no.

The 5 nights hotel has to be within the flight dates and I take that to be before the first flight of the return trip and not an intermediary one.

The rule is written as “The hotel/car element of the package must be for a minimum of five nights within the flight travel dates for travel”.
So it would be within the flight travel dates, I think I may have to call BA to clarify…

Just checked with the BA helpline and they confirmed that this would definitely qualify for the double tier points as the 5 nights are contained between my take off from Glasgow and my landing and Glasgow on the return.
