Any thoughts on whether they will extend this promo again?

“The booking must be made by a UK resident and must originate and end in the UK.”

Does anyone know how strict BA are with this? Ive had double TP credit for a flight + car that is just a single flight LHR-Istanbul. But I’m looking at doing a single flight+car back from Buenos Aires-LHR and don’t know whether I should expect double or not…

The UK start & end requirement is one of the more recent changes. Other permutations would have worked in the past, but you shouldn’t expect them to now.

Yea I don’t remember this stipulation before either. The Istanbul double TP did happen earlier this month, so I guess it slipped through the cracks but they seem to keep adding these rules and narrowing the options

I can’t remember exactly when the UK centric rule came in, possibly with the last offer extension, but you may have made your booking before the change as it’s the terms at the time of booking not travel that matter. That in turn could lead to further overlaps of course as it appears the bonus TPs are still being awarded manually.

Equally I would not be surprised if a one-way trip from the UK worked, as while outside the terms i imagine it’s the origin which is more significant, so there might be scope to slip through. However I would be surprised if a one-way to the UK made it.

yea those are my thoughts, a UK-outbound-only flight is more likely to slip through than a UK-inbound-only… oh well, gonna make Gold a little harder to hit, but kinda wanna do it as i doubt i’ll be able to if/when the ‘TP for spend’ gets implemented

I doubt anything newly booked under the current Ts & Cs would just slip through.

1 (b) The booking musy be made by UK resident and must originate and end in the UK

I think that’s been in there for quite a while if not since the start.

Newer (relative of course) changes include the needing to actually ‘use’ the hotel / car, only one ex UK flight would qualify and the 30 das trip length restriction)

There is a thread on FT that has tracked the various changes.

Data point re UK-only BAH’s. I did a trip to London and Scotland at the end of last month, with 5 days’ car hire from GLA. Double TPs posted on the 7th working day after the last flight, so all is well!

I booked well out, but paid well under £600, hire car was a decent Kia Ceed, very easy to pick up and drop off at GLA, and no issues with returning it the night before it was due as I had an early flight the next morning.

GLA is a dream to fly from, we are seriously considering using it in future, lol!

Does anyone have experience of checking into the hotel but staying only on the first night of the 5 night booking?

In my destination (SE Asia), hotels are very inexpensive via BA holidays. I can add 5 nights at my transit location in a reasonable 4* property for only an extra ~£150 on top of the flight only price.

I have a genuine need for a room on the first night anyway (offsetting ~£100 based on the hotel I would otherwise have chosen), but on the morning of day 2
my partner and I will fly on to our final destination. We aren’t routing back the same way so I will not be able to check us out in person.

I’m thinking of using the hotel for one night, ensuring some kind of bar/restaurant charge as proof we were there, then just leaving on day 2 with the DnD sign hanging on the door…

    Welcome any thoughts or experiences!

@_Tom The updated Ts & Cs do say you must use the hotel and car “..1 e) The hotel/car element of the package must be used i.e. hotel occupied and or car rental hired for the full booked duration….”

Note “..full duration…” so you are risking missing out.

@_Tom – I’m not sure anyone can give you a definitive answer as it depends on the particular hotel and how it treats your absence vis-à-vis BAH.

Yes. Do hotels have to declare to tour operators guest’s final costs?

Thanks both. Given the marginal (~£50) additional cost, I think it’s worth a punt. Car hire isn’t an option in this destination so it’s that or nothing.

Has anyone recently had to wait longer than the 14 working days stated to receive their double tier points? I returned from 5 nights in New York on the 7th October but still haven’t received the additional points. I have received the base tier points and Avios as well as the bonus Avios for booking a BA Holidays package, just missing the bonus tier points.

Yes I have waited more than 14 working days. Returned on 6th October and points for return flight posted on 9th but no double tier points received at all (80 TPs due).
Made a claim yesterday via BA Silver line and was told that back office will credit my missing tier points within 7 working days. This is the first time this has happened and it was a totally standard BA holidays booking, 5 nights flight plus car hire to/from Bordeaux. On another note the Avis operation at Bordeaux airport is completely shambolic. Will not be hiring a hire from there again! I would advise to avoid.

It took 13 days for my double TP from the trip 8-15 Oct to be credited.
For the outbound flight I got revenue based Avios. Contacted BAEC, next day they reversed all the Avios and TP for both flights. Nothing on my account since then apart from the BAH extra TP…

Does anyone have any idea if the promotion is likely to be extended again? Or are we now outside the period when they have extended it previously. Need to book a trip for this time next year and don’t want to find out they extend it but I don’t then qualify because the trip was out of the qualification period when I booked.

Data point. After raising the missing double tier points with BA Exec Club customer support, I received my missing 80 TPs a week later, about a month after the return flight credited.

I’m holding off from making any BAH bookings for after June 25 to see if the offer is extended. I typically book five CE bookings a year and if it isn’t extended, I’ll simply book one flight to Asia on QR and fly Y in Europe to maintain my Silver status. I couldn’t justify double the number of flights in CE to maintain status.

I went on a BA holiday last month, MAN-LHR-TFS giving 120 TP each way. Everything posted fine and I got the 240TP added for the double tier points on October 30. Just saw today that my TP total is higher than expected and it seems it posted the extra TP a second time on November 7th against the posting.

Obviously some sort of glitch and a good chance it’ll get taken away again but at the moment I have triple TP for that holiday. It doesn’t actually benefit me much as I requalified for Silver which is what I intended and even with the extra I am 500TP from gold which I won’t hit before April but thought I would post and see if anyone else has seen similar as I don’t recall reading any posts on it, my wife also had the second lot posted to her account on the same date.

TBH probably best not to highlight this or anything similar……first rule of flight club and all that…. (:

Fair point and happy for the post to be deleted if needed, however I’ve just seen a similar post from someone else (with a screenshot) over on Flyertalk so not sure it would help!

Yes, the TP fairy seems to have been extra busy on the 7th! As you say, already discussed over on FT. Only an issue if it makes a difference to your status, of course.

Question? Looking at booking a holiday from JER. Does that count as ‘uk’ for double tier point offer? Thanks
