Bangkok New Years Eve

I have a family member who arrives in Bangkok on New Years Eve and leaves the morning of 2nd January. I’m looking for anyone’s personal experiences or knowledge of the city at that time of year. Nice cocktail bar with view, public firework display viewing points etc. They will be staying centrally.

I haven’t stayed during NYE but will be this year. The fireworks are on the river adjacent to Icon Siam and Rivercity, in part. I’m unsure if they are in other parts of the city.

I’ve booked a table in a riverside bar but don’t really hold out much hope of getting a good view. We’re staying on the river and our usual room has a decent river view so hoping this works out. There are a few bars in Iconsiam with good views. They may try to book something in the hotel restaurants in that area. MO, Peninsula, Millenium Hilton etc. The Four Seasons has a decent cocktail bar.
