Does anyone have a recommendation for a Barbados Hotel, please? It would be a cash booking and I’m reluctant to shell out for one of the Marriotts (bad and expensive experience in the Sheraton in Kau’ai). Looking for something a little more affordable – around $600 per night.
I wasn’t happy with any hotels I stayed at in Barbados (Hilton and Marriott properties).
If I make it there ever again, I’d consider this:

you *may* find prices colse to your limit.

I did search the site: many comments referred to stays more than 3 years ago, prices have doubled since then and almost everyone used the words “tired, dated and over-priced” I was hoping for recommendations for more recent stays.
Someone mentioned Glitter Bay, but there’s more than one company dealing in apartments in that location with that name.
The West Coast is the fashionable area to stay and I’m a fan of Coral Reef Club. BUT the prices are crazy in the peak months.
For our last few visits we’ve stayed at Little Arches, Oistins (South Coast). It’s a great property, walkable to Oistins and opposite the beach! Relatively reasonable prices tooWe like Waves! Marriot on the west coast. Fully inclusive. Decent food and beverage. Gorgeous pool. Stunning private beach with included water sports. Staff are lovely. Recently fully refurbished rooms.
+1 for Little Arches and the fabulous beach across the road.
Another +1 Little Arches. Definitely one of the best boutique hotels in the area. The Oistins fish fry is great fun. You’ve also got Sandals of course if you want something more commercial at a reasonable price.
We’re staying for the first time at Glitter Bay in Nov. We have two babies so wanted a pool and beach plus a villa/apartment works better for us in the evenings with sleeping etc.
As you say there are a number of companies offering out the apartments. We used https://tropicalislandrentals.com/ and they have been excellent so far.

At these sort of prices, it’s a wonder that so many people still flock to Barbados. Eating out decently is also so horrendously expensive and of a fairly poor standard. I think I would rather go elsewhere or stay at home!
I can happily recommend the Sandpiper which is within easy walking distance of both the shops & restaurants of Holetown and the good snorkelling of the Folkestone Marine Park (if that’s your kind of thing). The Sandpiper is a fairly small and laid back place with a couple of nice pools and a decent breakfast and whilst we didn’t rate the main restaurant for dinner there’s plenty of other choices nearby (try the chicken Roti’s at Zaccio’s – delicious!). You don’t say what time of year you are planning to travel so it may or may not fit your budget.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but we are being decanted from the Silver Shadow and need at least a one nighter before flying to New Orleans…
We stayed in ‘Colony Club’ last year which is currently being refurbished so this year (last week!) we stayed at ‘Little Good Harbour’, price isn’t too steep, staff are fantastic and tye added bonus of The Fishpot being across the road and part of the hotel (you can pre book B&B or BBEM) I cannot recommend it enough!

Looks very nice but for my dates, it’s over $1200 per night, excluding breakfast. Might fly straight to MSY …
Have you looked at rentals? We’ve had a couple in Barbados that were very good value. Most of them get marketed on all the usual places (VRBO, Airbnb, etc)
