Received there card yesterday , I’ve made a few transactions using pin, however can’t seem to use contactless with any merchant regardless of amount ? Any idea what the prob is

I can’t register card with PayPal , same message comes up saying can’t verify the account

Also no mention of the 50k avois welcome bonuses, leaflet which came with it has just got the standard reward amount (I applied 30th may )

    Advise appreciated

It’s Barclays. Their IT is a touch flakey.

Sit back, relax, and try again in a few days.

After receiving the card, I found that it takes a few days for all the systems to come online and work as expected. After about five days, I could finally add the card to PayPal, Apple Pay, etc.

Nothing will say 50,000 Avios, but it should be fine provided you applied during the promotion and then meet the required spend.

My new card works ok contactless – although I did have a short period of unexplained declines that Barclays chat could not seem to see from their end let alone explain. Also found it occasionally wouldn’t work for a Morrisons online shop updates too, even though it worked ok on the initial order.

I had to order a keypad to register on the app – but once in the Avios points show up ok. It said 25k bonus in the app, but seems to have awarded me 50k ok when I clicked over £3k spend.

Also applied for an Amex platinum – so will switch things over to that now for a few months until £6k spend achieved, will then switch back to Barclays Avios to go for the £10k award.

Think I will have to find another non amex reward or cashback payment method too though in case Barclays Mastercard continues with the occasional unexplained declines.
