Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Barclaycard Voucher – Was BA agent wrong?

  • 133 posts

I called BA (USA number) to use a Barclays upgrade voucher for two seats in Club (on a high demand route). The agent told just before 1am that he would need to secure two seats in Premium Economy, then see if it was possible to upgrade them. Thankfully, he secured the two seats in Club – but the process that he used was different from the process on the BA website. On the website, the vouchers are effectively “discount” vouchers – you book in Club, but only pay the Avios required for Premium Economy.
My concern is about the return leg: If an agent follows the “book Premium then update” route, the process takes longer than someone booking directly in Business.
Did the agent use an incorrect procedure?
    Thanks.

No idea… but you do realise the voucher is for ‘upgrade’ for 2 on a one way journey or a return for one person , unless you are using 2 vouchers

Can’t be right as you can use the voucher without there being any premium economy availability

As @Jill Kinkell says – seems you need to have used 2 x vouchers to be able to add 2 x returns – others in threads have said you can’t use a voucher for a return leg even if you’re flying outbound ex-UK

It’s worth checking out the longer Barclays voucher threads because they contain a lot of useful info as people have discovered what you can and can’t do with the vouchers!

He’s incorrect. Availability in premium economy is irrelevant. Voucher entitles you to book a club world ticket but pay PE avios for it.

You just need availability of club world seats.

    “Upgrade” voucher is a misnomer.
