Best approach for LHR to HKG with a connection at DOH

Grateful for some advice please.

I made a BA booking from LHR to HKG with a connection at DOH.

LHR to DOH is with BA
DOH to HKG is with QR

On the BA app, there is no option to check in for the QR flight and select seat etc. Do I have to do this separate on the QR website? What is the best approach here so my checked baggage go straight to HKG (ie without the need to collect my bag at DOH and check in again)?

Is this all one booking, on one PNR? If so, you will get your bags checked through. You might have to call BA or contact QR (they are very responsive on chat) to get your seat allocated.

For the seat selection, you should be able to do this on the Qatar website or app using the same booking code. At least, it’s worked for me in the past. Same with AA and AY, you can’t select a seat via BA but you can trundle off to the website of the respective carrier and handle the necessary details there.

If it is a single booking (which sounds like is the case), you won’t need to collect your bags even if you can’t check in online and have to check in at the airport.
