Does anyone have any recent datapoints for how long it takes for the 15 elite nights to be credited when opening a new Amex Bonvoy card? The Amex site states ‘approximately 8 weeks’ but I wonder if it actually take that long?
I’m one night short to retain status and have left it a bit late to sort out before the end of the year. I could do a 1 night mattress run but only have a week before escaping these shores for the festive period and could do without the faff.
I received mine before the physical card arrived. So about 2 days after the application was approved.
Yes, most reports are very quick, definitely by year end unless they’ve messed up.
2025 batch should hit in the first week of January.
Submitted over the weekend and the 15 nights have landed this AM (before the card arrived).
Told ya so 🙂
I just realised that with the 5 night annual choice benefit, and the 15 nights from the card, I’ll only need 15 nights to retain Plat if they run the double elite nights promo again next year.

The 5 night Annual Choice Benefit won’t help you get or retain Platinum – you have to hit 50 nights to get the choice. If you use this year’s ACB it will apply to this year’s count, not next year
It says I have until jan 7th to apply it, so surely that is for next year’s total if I do it in Jan?
The 15 Amex nights count towards the 50, I’ll get them when I renew the card, and then double nights for 15 in beds = 50.

No, if you choose the 5 status nights, they will count towards this years’ total, not next years. Even if you choose on new year’s day. It is only really worth choosing if you are within 5 nights of Titanium or Ambassador, or very keen to add to your lifetime total
