Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Can BA swap the companion voucher to an older one?

  • 78 posts

I am having an old and a new BAPP companion vouchers. Currently there is an outbound biz class seat available for 2 but only economy seats for inbound for the dates we would like to travel based on old BAPP vouchers search. However both biz/premium economy seats would be available when using the newer premium BAPP voucher.

Have anyone ever experienced to book the seats using premium BAPP vouchers for mix biz/economy seats and swap it with old BAPP voucher when the premium/biz seats are release and available at a later date prior to departure.

The old BAPP voucher will be expired end of the years. Appreciate anyone can shed a light on this kind of situation. TIA

The title should read as Can BA swap the companion voucher 😊

If you’re asking what I think, then you wouldn’t need to swap your voucher, you can just change your flights if seats in a higher cabin become available for the change fee. To actually use a different voucher you’d need to cancel and rebook the whole thing.

I am a bit confused by your comment about PE seats being available with the new voucher as this doesn’t actually open up any extra PE availability so it shouldn’t make a difference which voucher you search with.

BA can definitely switch two vouchers within a booking. They did it for me when i had an earlier expiring voucher that I wanted to use (it having been released back when an earlier made booking was cancelled). This was before the new style vouchers though. So I’m afraid I don’t know if that aspect would make any difference.

Worth a call to find out.

With the premium BAPP voucher it would have extra seats available in terms of PE/biz than the old style voucher.

Unless something has changed then only CW gets potential extra seats – all other classes see the same

Indeed. It’s not clear if the OP has actually seen any extra PE seats or is just mistaken about the voucher terms!
