We’re planning to switch BAPP accounts between myself and wife every 2 years to maximise bonuses. Am I correct in thinking that as soon as a booking has been made with a 241 voucher, we can then go ahead with cancelling the account to reset the 2 year bonus window and not affect the existing booking? And what would happen if we have closed the account but then need to either cancel or amend the 241 booking? Is that even possible? Thanks

This is much asked and answered. If you cancel rather than downgrade you are technically in breach of the companion voucher terms as you need to remain eligible for the promotion at the time of travel. A few people have recently reported that their vouchers have been removed which is also what Amex will warn you when you call to cancel. There is obviously a risk if you seek to evade paying the annual fee most people are expected to pay so, if you choose to cancel, you should at least be aware of that.
To the extent that you play the two year game in relay, you can also not be certain that the required break will remain at the rather low two years.
Thanks for the response. I’ll keep the card open until after travel in that case.
I get the argument about the two year window not guaranteed. Worst case I just sign up again without the bonus, so nothing really lost.
