Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios Car Payment

    Hi folks,

I’m purchasing a car from Lookers Jaguar. They don’t accept Amex so that’s ruined my plans for putting it on my BAPP and getting a decent chunk of avios.
They accepted my deposit (£500) on my Barclaycard Avios.
I’ve spoken to the salesman that says their payment method is bank transfer. Anyone have any experience of whether this is their only payment method versus their preferred payment method?
I’m not going to cause a fuss, but I’d quite like to pay as much as I can through my Barclaycard Avios. I’m essentially giving up a lot of Avios otherwise.

    Thanks

You obviously can’t force them to accept a credit card, however you could have a word with the manager and say that your purchase decision depends on being able to pay a certain amount that way.

Otherwise, do they offer any finance options where you could pay off the balance with your card? I’ve done this with our last 3 or 4 cars, got a chunk of avios and VS points and vouchers from a balloon payment most recently.

I bought from lookers land rover and also Marshall’s Land Rover , both accepted deposit via Amex/Barclaycard however balance to change had to be b/t … I found this with lookers Mercedes also .. they took only would take deposit with either card …. I’m a repeat customer with them all.. they wouldn’t budge on it

    Sytner Mercedes took Curve.

+1 Curve acts as a debit card so it should be accepted on any underlining card
