I can answer my own question now re a PP lounge in Gran Canaria / LPA.

The Sala Galdos lounge (VIP lounge is the branding) is lovely. No issues getting in with 2 x PP for the 4 of us. Lounge is quite large, comfortable seats, lots of food/drink options and nice views of the runway via a terrace and large floor to ceiling windows.

    Good to hear.
BTW it does get very busy and untidy later in the day.

Thanks. Our flight has just been delayed 25 mins, but hopefully we should take off at 13.00, so will escape before it gets too busy.

@MGW I was told you need three things when driving in India, good eyes, good ears and good luck.

Or just one thing … A good driver who has all of the aforesaid attributes 😂 Let’s just say that the roads are an ‘experience’. Much like Nepal, just much more!

I will add that my driver seems to have 360-degree vision. An additional attribute for which I have been most grateful this past week.

Afternoon from the Sala VIP lounge at AGP. They’ve had a bit of a refurbished seating wise since I was last here in December and food options seem to have increased a fair bit .No issues getting in with my PP although in fairness I’ve never had any problems here.

And good morning from Singapore where I have been up for a couple of hours, Mrs Froggee surfaced an hour ago, Kermit just appeared, and Freddo is still missing in action.

BA cabin crew chatted relentlessly through the night on the flight which certainly took the dampener off Kermit’s 52K direct aisle access seat. I had ear plugs in but Mrs Froggee was unamused. It is weird how the control dynamic on a plane makes it so tricky to go and ask the crew to stoppit.

I booked the serviced apartment through Hotels.com for 20% c@shback and we were rewarded when we turned up by being put in a lower category apartment. Thankfully it was sorted with the receptionist explaining that the reservation came through from Expedia and they didn’t actually specify a “premier” apartment, just three bedrooms. I guess we were fortunate that they had one of the bigger ones empty and clean as an extra 400 square feet makes a big difference. Plus we got given a bit of cookies for the inconvenience!

Anytime this happens to me on a flight, I become very passive aggressive with the call button, and request a drink or snacks every 15 minutes or so, and eventually mention (once asked) I can’t sleep due to relentless chatter coming from somewhere in the cabin.

I’m in the Conrad Bangkok. I’m here to shop for a bike I plan to ride to Vietnam, and it happens to be my birthday.

As well as giving me an amazing upgrade and a little birthday cake, the guest relations team have made me a hand-drawn birthday card with a full colour picture of a person riding a mountain bike through a forest, with hand-written birthday wishes from all the team inside.

The artwork is amazing – I couldn’t draw that well in a million years and it must have taken the artist considerable time.

It’s a very personal touch and I’m quite moved. My room was full of birthday balloons, too. They’ve really gone above and beyond.

That is because your in “the Land of smiles” Thai people do seem to go above and beyond, I’m hoping to start my SEA tour from Thailand in Q4 2025 or Q1 2026.
Have a great trip, I hope your going to ride the Hai Van Pass in Vietnam, (Top Gear) I navigated this on a motorbike several years ago, fantastic experience and scenery.

Also on the Conrad Bangkok, drinks on the bar area just now as children under 12 not allowed in lounge when drinks are served. No birthday cake but it isn’t my birthday so can’t complain too much I guess.

@MGW Yep, nowhere else in the world have I seen an elephant heading the wrong way along a motorway or a cow just chilling in the outside lane.

The smiles are often fake – and it’s also the land of hitmen on motorcycles – but yes, that’s one reason I choose to call it home.

I rode the Hai Van pass in 2011, but cheated a little by grabbing hold of a passing petrol tanker for an effortless cruise to the top.

Fourteen years older, I’m not sure I’ll be able to resist if a similar opportunity presents itself!

I’ve not seen any flesh-and-blood elephants this trip but many instances of the uber-slow trucks “Elephant Racing” up the slightest of hills. It’s even worse than the M8!
As for cows, hard shoulder, lane 1, lane 2, central reservation, the largest herd I managed to count on the main Delhi to Manali Highway numbered in excess of 25! 😂

@WoodyYork, have a fabulous time! Which is the Neptuno lounge?

Thank you for your help early on navigating bookings etc.

Neptuno was the lounge in T4S in Madrid that we had access to with priority pass. A really lovely environment in a very nice airport. My lounge experience so far extends to this one plus the Apsire lounge at MAN. Neptuno was streets ahead for cleanliness, atmosphere etc.

Good morning from the Neptuno lounge at MAD T4S ahead of our IB flight to Japan. About to spend 2 and a bit weeks exploring Osaka, Nagoya, Takayama, Fuji area and Tokyo as a family of 5. It’s been my wife’s dream since she was a kid.

    Oh wow, nice.
    I’ll be in Osaka tomorrow.
Let me know what nice restaurants you find

We’ve landed in Narita and will spend the day exploring Narita town before an early flight across to Osaka tomorrow morning. Didn’t want to risk a same day internal connection.

Likewise, let me know if you find anywhere you’d recommend.

Yes. We watched them prepare the fresh eels on the roadside at the most famous eel place, then went 200 years down to the road to buy a taster pot for 600Yen rather than the 3000Yen they were asking for…

200 years of a long way to get that discount though 😉

    😤

That was my jet lagged brain at work. Fell asleep at the same time as the kids at 6pm local time and found myself awake for 2 hours at midnight.

200 yards was a more reasonable estimation.
