Hi,
I’ve booked a companion voucher reward flight booking from Newcastle to Singapore, I luckily managed to get CW seats on the way there but after little success ringing at 1am only managed to get premium economy for the way back after ringing at 8am on T-355 yesterday. Our internal feeder flight wasn’t released until today and the agent on the phone is saying that BA now have a new policy that your baggage allowance doesn’t carry through connecting flights I.e. on the way back I can bring 2x23kg onto the Singapore to London flight but only 1x23kg on the London to Newcastle as there’s no premium for economy option on the internal feeder flight so they will only put you in economy with that baggage allowance. I’ve flown premium economy previously and never had this issue but she said that the policy only changed in December. I’ve tried to look online but can’t see anything about this new policy and if I go to make a paid for booking it allows me the 2 bags on both flights. The agent suggested I either pay for the additional bags at £65 per each bag or upgrade to club world on the internal flight at 15k Avios plus taxes! Has anyone heard it this? Is it because it’s a reward flight and not paid for? Any help or advice greatly appreciated.
If it’s a single ticket and bags to be through checked I cannot see how this could be implemented, not even by the super efficient switched on staff in Singapore.
If it’s separate tickets that altogether a different matter.
Check baggage allowances on the e ticket receipt but unless you are planning to ship 46 kg and don’t have status I’d ignore it

It’s all one booking both outbound and inbound that’s why I can’t understand it, same booking reference for it. My e ticket conveniently is blank in the baggage allowance box for both the sin-lhr and lhr-ncl as well but has the 2x32kg for both the outbound flights. I’m not bothered by the extra kg difference but really need the extra bags on the way back – doing a Disney cruise from Singapore and know I’ll be bringing lots of merch home 🤣
The single baggage allowance is only for through flights deemed as 1 flight . No more than 24 hr gap between legs (only exception being RTW tickets.)
So the allowance on outward and return are separate. But the final local leg is same as dominant longhaul flight, if they are on same ticket.
This is nonsensical, for example if you were flying first, then 3 bags, there is no option for 3 bags on feeder flight , business is best you can do. So does it mean anyone who isn’t based in London can’t join a First flight and make use of their baggage allowance. Clearly a misinterpretation of rule by agent.
I think you’ll be fine and they’ll just check the bags straight through without comment.
However, a tip for the future, or if you end up cancelling and rebooking.
If you book online, and use the “stopover” facility, you can pick CE for your domestic connection, regardless of the cabin you’re travelling in on the long haul leg. Gotta love BA’s IT sometimes. This means you wouldn’t have to worry about the bags, and you also get lounge access and FT, etc, at LHR, which can be most welcome after a long return flight! (Those connections are miserable).
I think if you show your inbound CW boarding card should get lounge access, as you would be entitled to use arrivals lounge from a CW flight
OP is in PE on the inbound, hence the problem! If the inbound leg is in CW on an award booking, so will a domestic connection be, unless there were no CE seats available at the time of booking.

Oops should learn to read
Many thanks for all your replies and helpful tips. My updated e ticket has came through this afternoon and states 2x23kg for both the sin-lhr and lhr-ncl so the agent booking has clearly not understood the policy – though on the phone she insisted she’d checked with “multiple supervisors” and that I was in the wrong! Just pleased I didn’t pay the extra Avios/taxes like she wanted me to! Thanks again
I think she is thinking of the change that the outbound/inbound have different allowances for different classes, which did not used to be the case you got the highest allowance on all the flights in the booking. It’d be quite unmanageable to have changing allowances in the middle of a journey!
Sorry to jump on but can I ask how you got on adding the domestic leg? I managed to grab 2 LHR-HND on Saturday night online then rang up to add the MAN-LHR and they are apparently struggling to reissue the tickets with the domestic leg and say I might have to pay a £35 change fee.
On the outbound the domestic leg would already have been available when you booked LHR-HND so they probably will charge the change fee. It’s only fee-free, strictly speaking, on the inbound, when it isn’t released until the day after the long-haul leg. (Though you might get a nice or untrained agent who doesn’t charge you). If you get really unlucky, they might also try to charge you £15 pp on top as you could have done this online, though you might be able to argue against that!
It shouldn’t be difficult to do, though, not sure why they would be struggling.

My argument was I couldn’t use the Barclaycard at midnight Saturday night to book MAN-HND and if I had waited it would be gone. Agent agreed but apparently couldn’t update ticket without the fee so has sent for manual ticketing. 72 hour wait they’ll either process it or ask for the £35pp, so should find out tomorrow.
Unsure if it’s harder due to the fact the usual 6am MAN-LHR shuttle is only leaving at 7am, so doesn’t get us there for the 9:20am flight, so flying down the night before.
