@Froggee Clean tables are an added extra now, did you not include it during booking?
Chase has a 100k points sign up on the Sapphire preferred card! More US related, but might be of interest to some.
1% cashback does include the US – just got back and all transactions earned Curve Cash.
Wanted to confirm that double dipping works on Curve:
1% cashback at Apple as a selected retailer
a further 1% cashback for using my card abroad (doesn’t include europe and the US, from Memory)Anyone having difficulty logging in the Qatar Airways website? I think it’s just me. I’m stuck in an endless captcha loop. Even tried resetting password and that didn’t help. This is on Safari. Tried Chrome and the website loads and immediately goes dark and blurred and unusable before I can even attempt a log in.

I didn’t think to. But the last laugh is on BA as he left the cleaning solution unattended at the whispering angel shelves so I sneaked several squirts and used some napkins to clean the table myself.
Take that British Airways!
Just checked out of crowne plaza Newcastle yesterday morning, and now the Amex offer comes on my Amex card this morning 😂
Save it anyway – there’s an outside chance the pending spend will trigger the offer when it posts properly.

You could just use the WA, it doubles as drain cleaner.
@Froggee, if he hadn’t left the cleaning stuff, you could have just used some Whispering Angel!
BA is clearly going all out to tempt folk into booking those £20k holidays this week.
Thanks to @BA_Flyer_IHG_Stayer for the walking route instructions for T4 to HIX/CP – super easy and much quicker than using the overhead enclosed tunnel thing.
It also works for the Hilton & Premier Inn, just enter / exit the overhead walkway via the HIX/CP reception.
Are people still keen on holidaying to the US and contributing to their economy?

no interest atm, no. all trips going east and Europe currently
We flew to US and back last month Atlanta/New Orleans in CW. A couple of empty seats out but full on return. Very few Brits. Nearly all American judging by accents.
Are people still keen on holidaying to the US…
It’s a no from me. Been there done it really over many years.
@Aston, you say that, but the people who work in tourism/hospitality are very much the kind of people who are suffering under the new regime. In Florida and the Caribbean last month, the hand-wringers were asking, “Will you still come?” (as in UK tourists, not specifically OH and me!) I’m sure the orange one isn’t too fussed about tourists, but ordinary Americans certainly seem to be, both in terms of the economic impact but also because they’re quite upset about being viewed as pariahs. One American woman grabbed me by the hand in the pool and held forth for several minutes about the Special Relationship and the importance of Gibraltar to US security, it was quite exhausting!
Thinking about it, this could actually be a reason to avoid the USA …
Disclaimer – I haven’t got any plans to re-visit the US for at least the next 12 months, but that’s happenstance more than anything.

Still planning to go later this year, however am probably going to cut it shorter than originally planned in part because of cost or potentially rising costs. As I say If I didn’t go anywhere because of political beliefs I couldn’t leave my own home
I failed miserably at loading the Portuguese version of the Starbucks App on my iPhone the other day. I have the U.K. Version but that will only work in the U.K. Apparently except for three countries globally, you need the country specific app as there is no compatibility (they must have employed someone from BA IT).
Because I only have a U.K. phone, it won’t let me load the Portuguese version of the App.
So…..if I temporarily load an eSIM next time I’m in Portugal, would that confuse the phone into thinking that I’m in Portugal and can download the App ? I’m genuinely unsure how the Region specific aspect works and whether it’s a hardware or software control. Advice appreciated. You have to sign out of the App Store app (not your entire iPhone, just the App Store). Then create a new account with country set to Portugal. Then download the app. It would be easier to just create an online account on the Starbucks Portugal website probably.
V pleasant experience at the Gare du Nord lounge a few hours ago,
Plat in hand: the lounge person turned a large blind eye to the
large 11-yr old next to me, and just waved us both in!@NorthenLass – interesting to hear what Americans in Miami and Caribbean were saying. Last month during our travels around the South we met many supporters of the changes who were very vocal and thought it was the best thing for them and the US and about time their taxes were no longer used to support the rest of the world. Only one person we spoke to seemed concerned.
FT article on the BA/Amex debacle online now. No news on what comes next …

I think it will very quickly change after today, hard to put it in words. The current administration was elected on the economy/inflation…

I am going a week in May to Florida, I have been too many countries with debatable governments, never thought too much about it. first time I am seriously thinking of not going.
@LD27, most of the ones we spoke to were in Bimini and GCM, so generally types with passports! So probably a more Democrat demographic than in some of the states. Most people in Florida were Spanish-speaking and seemed much less inclined to start a conversation.
We did note that there was a gun show in Fort Lauderdale the weekend we were there, with a large sign advertising “open carry classes” 🤦🏻♀️

Are you sure that wasn’t the Whispering Angel you were using to clean the table Froggee ?

Absolutely not from me. It will be a very long time before I go back to the USA. Indeed I hope Europeans and many Brits will boycott the country and its goods.
As for the residents of Florida who work in tourism. They should have been worrying if “we will come!” back in November when they voted in huge numbers for Trump.
As we in Britain know only too painfully, voting for people or causes which promise easy answers to complex questions and a land of milk and honey, is a recipe for Disaster. Brexit taught us that much

But the further 1% cashback at Apple as a selected retailer only works in the UK/EEA, so you can’t double dip: https://help.curve.com/1-cashback-retailers-rk1gJoBMh
I’ve not tried apple but McDonald’s and uber double dipping has worked for me in the Us and Brazil.
