This is today’s chat thread.
If you have specific questions about Avios, hotels or credit cards, please ask them in the appropriate forum and not here. This thread is a good place to post interesting deals you have spotted or your general thoughts on travel and all things miles and points. Thank you for contributing.
Why are Staybridge Suites at LHR so cheap? Seems to be decent sized rooms, with kitchen facilities, and free breakfast, for the price of some of the most budget brands? Am I missing something?
This morning I used PayPal to pay a mate for my share of tickets. I noticed a warning near all credit cards but not Amex regarding potential cash advance fee.
I’ve never seen this before when making ‘Friends and family’ payments. Is it new? Did something change?
And why not for Amex?

IHG hotels at LHR are generally very well priced. If only they had one nearer to T3 to give the HGI and Aerotel some competition!

Not in my experience, generally find the purple chain about half the price but granted it’s not quite the same quality
Is there a purple one close to T3? I would definitely go for this over a chain for an early departure if it was significantly cheaper. T3 just seems very poorly served for hotels (hence silly prices).

They do allow the occasional small payment. But if you start abusing it, your amex account will be in trouble.

PI T2/3 is a bit along Bath Road eastwards.
Nearest T3 hotels apart from HGI/Aerotel are on Bath Road near top of Tunnel Road – HI, Renaissance, Novotel, Ibis Styles, Radisson.
If i remember correctly, there are good bus services running along Bath Road to T3, but there’s the risk of a stroppy tfl driver!

Does anyone know if same-day change applies to BAH bookings? Starting to regret booking the last flight of the day home from LHR on bank holiday Monday as it’s always disrupted and the crew and passengers get very bad-tempered!

Not officially to my knowledge however you could ask nicely at customer services in the lounge and see what they say – i have seen an occasional report of success. Whether there will be any spaces on a bank holiday is another matter
