    Just seen the article Rob did on the JER lounge last year now im researching it – “It is confirmed that Priority Pass will be accepted” in the new no1 lounge.

    So my question now is will BA take this (the old downstairs lounge) back under ownership and make it a nice lounge ?

    In my view, the contrast between IC Sanur and IC Jimbaran is chalk and cheese! Jimbaran is a very large hotel compared to Sanur. Whilst the rooms at Sanur are very large compared to Jimbaran, there are some aspects of the hotel accommodation that could do with updating. It depends on what you want.

    In response to @Aston100, there is a definite chilled vibe to Sanur which appeals to me, because it encourages me to see what is on offer outside of the hotel. I thought that once ensconced in your Jimbaran room, there is less incentive to venture out, because everything you need is there!! If however you can get a discount for Jimbaran you will certainly not be disappointed. @qc has been very fair in not differentiating between the two hotels, highlighting those aspects in which each excels. If you’ve got children, whatever their age, then Jimbaran wins. Plus the grounds are phenomenal and the club and club suites a fantastic bonus. If you wish to spend your hard-earned IHG1 points, then best value (IMHO)is Jimbaran for what it provides for those points and especially if you have decent IHG1 status.

    Thank you.
    It is only Mrs Aston and I, no kids.
    I want to avoid noisy people and noisy places.
    Was hoping to get breakfast outside the hotel – partly because of waking up late.
    These factors seem to favour Sanur. However, you’ve indicated the Jimbaran property to be superior overall (despite the ‘basic’ rooms at Sanur being 90 sqm) and the current pricing at Jimbaran is a bit less than what we’ve already paid (flexible) for Sanur.
    Are there any negatives about Jimbaran to look out for? I assume noisy Australians and their kids, and lack of restaurants & places of interest within walking distance.

    Thanks again.

    EDIT: I am no longer IHG Diamond so unlikely to get an upgrade and will need to pay for breakfast if eating in.

    Depending on how long you’re going to stay it might be worth purchasing Ambassador to get the upgrade. We are only lowly Platinum Ambassadors now but we got an upgrade to a better room in the Singaraja wing which we eventually managed to upgrade further to the Club Wing. We have the annual Lounge pass.

    There are restaurants outside on the road (one is called Balique and you should see the menu online) where you should get breakfast as well the fish restaurants on the beach for lunch and dinner.

    Good afternoon from the Four Points Catania (which is a 55 min bus ride or 20 min drive from Catania) I don’t think it deserves its 3.4/5 rating so far but it’s nowhere near as nice as the previous two properties. Upgraded from a king to a deluxe double with sea view and balcony. F&B credit is free breakfast. Hoping it’s better than the Delta which was quite poor in terms of quality and service.

    It’s a tired property, they’ve tried to retrofit things like fridges, TV and USB socket (which is broken) but it all looks a bit heath robinson.
    Skies are grey and stormy today but better for the final two days and it looks like I’m bringing sunny and 23C weather home with me for next week.

    I see now there are a small number of restaurants within 5 minutes walk.
    This helps.

    @Aston100 Himeji castle in full bloom was one of the highlights of our trip a few years ago. It’s a glorious sight.

    Good evening from CP T4 Club Lounge. Decent trip back on BA in Club. Good crew which is what makes it. We’ve got an upcoming trip in F and we know it’s all going to be down to the crew despite the predictable hard product 🙂
    Michelle on usual form tonight in the CP lounge. Had this stay booked for a while so think she knew the kids were joining me – she got them a goodie bag of mini eggs, M&Ms and a Maltesers Bunny which I imagine would have come out of her own pocket. So very very kind. She’s a true credit to Arora Group!

    That is so sweet! I need to try that one, but I am always seduced by the HIEX being £3 cheaper, lol.

    But do you factor in the extra 300 Welcome points you get from the CP 😀

    Assuming you have breakfast in the airport lounge that is. Being a tightwad I tend to end up walking 100 yards further to the Premier Inn!

    Where else have you stayed we are going to Sicily later this year?

    Nothing wrong with the Premier Inn
    Has become my go to hotel in Heathrow in the last couple of years
    Happily pay the £4/£5 extra for the Premier Plus room on the higher floors which is quieter, with a decent shower, water, chocolates
    And often half the cost or less than any of the other hotels

    We got lucky with the timing too – hitting Osaka and Fuji at prime Sakura.

    We were fortunate enough to see Himeji Castle grounds in full bloom. One of the highlights of our trip.
    Did you get a chance to go there from Osaka?

    Yes, we did a day trip to Himeji and saw the Sakura there in full bloom too. Quite magical!

    The Sakura in full bloom is magical. Sadly Himeji was being restored last time I was there. The Philosophers Walk in Kyoto was also stunning.

    Provided Virgin does actually fly to Seoul from end of March next year, it would be a good entry/exit route to Japan. It’s a short hop across from ICN to KIX. When unable to fly direct from Europe, I have used that route and also from Hong Kong where flights were cheaper than direct to Japan. Something worth considering.

    Mangia’s Brucoli (autograph collection), Delta Giardini Naxos and a B&B in Agrigento.

    I flew back on Asiana, so pretty much the same journey!

    Was Managua’s Brucoli good? We saw that as an option but the reviews were mixed? It seems to have been refurbished?

    Oh no, @NorthernLass – it’s a shame you’re going to miss it! Is he understanding the Maths better this time around, and putting the hours (and hours, and hours) in?

    @Michael
    C – I hope he makes it in time for the Latin exam! Hopefully see you there.

    Oddly enough, I haven’t even had the chance to tell them @Jill Kinkell. It’s been a hit-the-ground-running kind of start to term. Give it 2 weeks and things will calm right down, as 2 of my classes go on study leave.

    @ToonFlyer
    and @BBbetter the monkeys will have been trained to steal phones, then return when given food by those accepting payment for the return of the phones. I do try to avoid places that are renowned for people feeding monkeys for this reason – it never ends well.

    Sorry to not reply yesterday, it was all a bit manic at work yesterday, then I ended up babysitting for my nieces in the evening!

    Definitely the best of the 3. Location is a little awkward, down some tight twisty roads and in the middle of nowhere. I had probably one of the best suites in the place for peace and quiet, right at the bottom overlooking the sea. Breaskfast was good. If you want a resort style property out of the way and you’re content with that then I don’t see how anyone couldn find fault.

    However I didn’t eat in the restaurants or use the spa or pools so can’t really comment. I just stayed because it was near Syracuse and wanted to burn some suit night upgrade vouchers

    Drat! and double drat!!
    I’m committed to a two-day residential training course at Loughborough and the 19th is the first of the two days. Sadly, I’ll not be able to bunk-off early and head down to Shoreditch for the Summer Party event (if I should be so lucky as to secure a ticket!). I’ll just have to donate my (presumed winning entry!) to someone more meritorious!!😇😇😇🤣🤣🤣.
    What’s the chances @Rob organising an autumn event, given that so many HfPers may be travelling and will miss out on the summer event? (He said wishfully!).

    @Cat
    , if what you say is correct then that is a very different slant on ‘monkey business’!!!…in fairness to the poor soul who had their phone swiped by the monkey, he looked in need of a good meal himself and unlikely to be feeding anyone else!!!😅😅

    50 for 6 in 3, unless you are geotargetted for something better.

    @AndrewT, yes, if we’re there it’s because we’re planning breakfast in one of the T3 lounges!

    @Cat
    , quite a lot of hours. He can’t re-sit it locally as he didn’t go to a state 6th form so I have to take him miles to the nearest independent exam centre which offers Pearson Edexcel. So we paid for an online tuition package and been looking at lots of YouTube videos, plus bits of help here and there from friends with STEM backgrounds. Any special @Cat tips gratefully received!
