Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Companion Voucher in Economy then upgrade?

  • 9 posts

    Hi,

I have a BA Amex companion voucher from before I upgraded from the standard to Premium Plus so it’s only usable in economy.

I intend to use to reduce Avios required when traveling on my own.

Is it possible after booking the economy redemption to then upgrade with either points or cash to business?

Assume this is a no but anyone know otherwise or any other suggestions?

    Thanks

Normally if seats become available you can call BA and change them for the extra avios and cash element, but only by one cabin class (so only to PE if you were travelling in economy originally). However, I don’t know if this is possible with the basic companion voucher as that is supposed to be valid for economy only.

Cash upgrades to any cabin are usually available at the airport if there are unsold seats.
