A scratch your head query for a lazy Sunday afternoon regarding companion vouchers.
Basically can 2 children (6 and 11 when flying) be added at a later date?
Myself and husband are flying out to Bangkok on a business trip end of April this year.
Outbound on a 2for1 (voucher expires June 25) on BA metal in business.
Inbound on Qatar Airways in business a week later we used Avios for this also.
I’ve seen people discussing using the other half of a companion voucher for the following year so we would have till next April (26) to use the other part.
But we would probably want the kids with us then. So probably Feb 2026.
Can we call and book our kids on using another companion voucher? Which we have already (that one expires July 26)
I know as they are kids we can’t do it online as its as if they are flying without voucher holder.
We would then book the outbound when we get our next companion voucher in August time.
Thank you
In short, no.
It would only work if the kids were doing the same route as the owner of the 2-4-1 has to be one of the two pax (or one of the four pax if using 2 x 2-4-1s)
They would be on the same flight as us though in Feb 26.
I’ve not booked our return so.matne if I did it at the same time

That doesn’t really help as the voucher holder and companion must travel together on every flight. It could possibly work the other way round – if the four of you took the outbound but only two took the return flights.
I don’t entirely understand what you want to do here.
So you’ve used 1 voucher for 2 of you, outbound, for this April, and you want to use the return portion for a trip you’re planning in Feb ’26 (with your kids)? In theory this is possible (I have done something similar previously), but I’m not sure how you planned to use another voucher on that booking?

Remember that any such booking must be made before the outbound this April has been flown. And it won’t be a full year either. It will be closer to 11 1/2 months.
Also any such booking must comply with other rules such as the Open Jaw ones.
There isn’t a problem per se booking separate avios or cash flights for your kids. BA will add a note to the booking but they won’t be linked to yours and they won’t be able to use online check in – it will have to be done at the airport.
You can have different numbers of pax on the outbound and inbound, as long as the voucher holder and “companion” pax travel on both legs.
We’ve previously used a 241 for me and OH in F to IAD, with our teenager on a separate booking in J due to there only being 2 x F avios seats. The return was MIA-LHR-MAN, booked later for all 3 of us, with a third of the avios refunded by BA, who agreed that this fell within the Ts and Cs.
I’m not sure if this is what @squishsquash is asking, however. Also, I think if you want to use 2 vouchers, this would have to be as a new booking, not added on to an existing one.
