    Just got an email

“You can now use Food & Beverage Rewards at US and Canada Luxury, Lifestyle and Premium hotels. This includes InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, Hotel Indigo, voco, EVEN Hotels, and Crowne Plaza. Keep checking back for updates on when additional countries and brands will be included!”

    And how to use them

“Once you’ve selected a Food & Beverage Reward as your Milestone Reward choice it’s automatically added to your Rewards Wallet. When you’re ready to use your reward during a stay, simply charge your purchases to your room, find your reward in your Rewards Wallet, and follow the instructions to add it to your bill. Bon appétit!”

Staying at Intercontinental Boston – have just redeemed some food and beverage credits. Really easy!! I was impressed that it was so straight forward. I had about 20 or so of these vouchers to use (£15 vouchers is showing as $18.49 when you finally redeem it = rate of 1.23 which is good) and was thinking it won’t work or be hassle…..

You click on the redeem button – it recognises your checked into the hotel. You confirm this and your room number which then brings up all your outstanding bills. You click redeem and $18.49 is taken straight off the bill. Repeat process until you’re happy to pay the remaining balance with cash, clear it entirely or run out of vouchers!
Let’s hope it’s the exact same process when this is switched on in the U.K. I do hear from an IHG hotel manager that staff have had or having their training and thinking it will be March/April time.

On a side note – IC Boston is a fantastic hotel. Staff here are amazing. 33,000 points a night thanks to the recent points sale. Recognised as Diamond/Ambassador and got the best upgrade possible. Penthouse on the top floor!! Was showing as £4,100 a night from booking this hotel last year, to our arrival, so guess that was the true going rate for it so that’s pretty good value for 33,000 a night!!
