Can anyone recommend a good restaurant for a 60th birthday meal in Gibraltar? All research to date has not been very successful and I am beginning to question my choice of destination or maybe I am looking in the wrong places!
Looking for somewhere nice, reasonably good food and doesn’t have to be luxury. Not looking for café style or Tapas menus. Somewhere with a nice view would be good and must offer evening service/meals.
I guess hotel restaurants would probably fit my criteria but would prefer a non-hotel restaurant if possible.
Any recommendations gratefully received. Thanks.
Had a quite nice meal here:
For a special occasion, the Mons Calpe Suite is a bit different. It sounds fancier than it actually is, but the food is decent and it’s quite a treat to go up in the cable car and then enjoy the spectacular views while you eat. If you make a booking, you get the cable car tickets free.
We had lunch there last year then spent the afternoon wandering around the nature reserve. It was a glorious day – you can get unlucky and get quite a bit of fog occasionally though.
Thanks @Chabuddy Geezy and @NorthernLass. I will take a look at these. 🙂
Waterfront restaurant and rendezvous were both good, but that was 3 years ago. Both on Queensway quay, that you may consider smarter than the chain restaurants around Ocean Village.

My son lives about 100m from these two resturants, we have eaten on them many times and both offer reasonable food by Gibraltar standards.
However most resturants in Spain knock spots off anything Gib has to offer. Don’t expect too much and you won’t be disappointed.
Rain expected all week.
Rendezvous is a nice setting, and I’ve always stopped for a meal there on a trip – but Rendezvous it is best seated outside when the weather is good. Ate there a few weeks ago and can confirm it is the same as 3yrs ago and good…
However – Gaucho’s has surpassed it with the food. Very good steak house and highly recommend Gaucho’s for a celebratory meal.
Finally, a bit more sociable and in amongst everything at Ocean Village – Bianca’s has been excellent recently. But can be quite busy as it seems to be the place to be right now.
