Happy (wet) weekend, all! Next month I have a 5-night BAH fly-drive to Scotland and as part of this have booked 2 nights at the lovely Kimpton Blythswood Square in Glasgow. From previous visits I’d like to avoid both driving and parking in the city!
Can anyone a Park and Ride-type facility outside the city where we could leave the car for 2 nights? TIA!
Are you arriving at GLA and picking up the hire car there? I’m going back a few years now, but you used to be able to park for free at Bishopton station which is a short drive from the airport and from there it’s a short train journey to Glasgow Central and an easy walk to Blythswood Sq.
Very much depends on where you are picking the car up though and where you are heading after Glasgow. If you are heading east towards Edinburgh, it would be a pain to have to get the train out west to collect the car.
Are these two nights at the start or end of your trip and where will you be before or after Glasgow city centre?

Yes, we live by Bishopton and this was going to be one of my recommendations depending on where @Northernlass was planning to be before/after.
I’m collecting the car at GLA then heading to Hamilton for the first night, then nights 2 and 3 are at the Kimpton. No firm plans for the rest of the trip; I have a couple of provisional hotel bookings in the general area. I’ll be dropping the car back at GLA after the 5th night.
I’ll have a look at Bishopton, thanks. Though actually just remembered that we are also visiting our niece at Glasgow Uni and she may well have some tips!
Newton train station would be the alternative if heading in from the Hamilton direction. But I’d suggest being lead by the direction you are heading in after Glasgow and plan from there.
Paring around the university is mostly residents’ permits and paid for on street parking as far as I am aware.
Thanks, will have a look at that one. She’s moving into a shared house this year, I don’t know where it is yet!
If I lived a few miles further West I’d have said my drive was available, but I think a 45 minute train back into Central Glasgow would probably not be worth it.
Even if it is a short walk to the Kimpton from Charing Cross station.
