Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club GTW lounge access – can I bring a guest if I don’t have status?

  • 16 posts

Hello. I’m flying to Funchal in December with my wife and then to be 2 year old son. I had 1 companion voucher, which I used to book me and my son in CE and booked my wife in economy under a separate booking due to lack of CE availability (I’m hoping to actually swap with my wife on the plane but that is a different topic). I’m hoping to use the business lounge at Gatwick, but I was wondering if I’m able to guest my wife access if I don’t have silver/gold status? I can’t seem to find the answer on BA’s website.

    Thanks!

    No.

Only passengers with status can guest.

(The two year old is fine as they don’t count as guests)

(Nice use of the Gatwick Station code there)

Unless you’re going for Xmas there look to be plenty of dates in December with 3 or more CE seats.

If lounge access is really important, you could cancel and rebook with the 3 of you on one booking (this may need to be on the phone as your son is still an infant, I can’t recall!). Keep checking on ba.com and Seatspy (set up an alert if you’re a subscriber) as availability does come and go. You and wife would all then be able to use the lounge at both ends (if there is one at FNC).

I’m flying 28 December – 4 January. The lounge is not important to me at all and Funchal airport doesn’t even have one for BA customers to use. I only booked CE as the only reward flight seats available were 2 in CE and 1 in economy. Whilst I didn’t want to use my companion voucher on these flights it worked out a lot cheaper than booking a cash fair. For the return flight we’re all flying economy.

Thank you. In that case I’ll have to try my luck and ask if there’s anyway my wife can come in with us seeing as my two year old will not benefit from the lounge at all. Let’s hope for a nice person at the lounge entrance. Worst case scenario they say no and we just go to main terminal all together.

Never hurts to try, just be ready to accept that is might not happen

(It’s LGW unless you mean the demolished Holešov Airport)

Actually, I think (very) strictly speaking, the 2-yr old DOES count, in the same
way they count for seats on board?!

    Yes I realised my mistake.

I think you’d be more likely to get the child in “free” than a 2nd adult.

What about – the one who goes in the lounge flies in economy?
