There are two ways of earning Avios from Barclays.
Via a current account:
The first, launched in February 2021, is Barclays Avios Rewards. This is exclusively for customers of Barclays Wealth and Barclays Premier Banking. A £75,000 salary is required to open a (free) Barclays Premier account.
Customers who opt-in to Barclays Avios Rewards pay a £12 monthly fee. You receive 1,500 Avios per month in return, plus other benefits. Most importantly, you earn an annual British Airways upgrade voucher. This lets you upgrade an Avios redemption flight by one class.

Via credit cards:
Barclaycard has launched two exceptionally generous Avios-earning Mastercard credit cards.
The Barclaycard Avios credit card is a free Mastercard. This makes it the ideal companion for your British Airways Premium Plus American Express card. Earning 1 Avios per £1 it is the most generous Mastercard or Visa credit card in the UK. You get a 5,000 Avios bonus for signing up.
The Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card costs £20 per month but comes with a generous sign-up bonus of 25,000 Avios. It earns 1.5 Avios per £1 spent.
Both cards let you earn an annual Avios upgrade voucher. The voucher lasts for two years and is triggered with £20,000 of annual spend (free card) or £10,000 of annual spend (paid card).
