Forums Hotel loyalty schemes World of Hyatt Hyatt 4 night mattress run?

  • ThriceForgiven 72 posts

I’m 4 nights away from hitting Globalist (until Feb’26) following a Corporate Status challenge (20 nights). The million dollar question…are these 4 nights worth a mattress run?

I’m London-based, usually have been a Bonvoy loyalist but as of late less and less. Am aware Hyatt’s footprint in Europe isn’t fantastic per se, and cash rates can be high vs. Bonvoy, but I’m tempted by the Globalist status.

What are people’s thoughts? I thought of a potential staycation as well, maybe using Amex Plat Fine Hotels booking to get extra perks, but then these wouldn’t count against the nights I presume…though I did manage to get them counted on a recent trip to the US.

Absolutely worth it, especially if you have travel planned for the rest of the year or next and it involves Hyatt hotels.

AmexFHR bookings (just like any other Hyatt Prive rate via a luxury TAs) do count but you need to add your membership number when you book.

Amex haven’t had a Hyatt Cashback offer this year which is a shame. The £100 off £250 (across multiple cards!) came in super-handy late last year when I was chasing 6-nights to renew my Globalist status.

The Hyatt Centric in Cambridge and the Hyatt Place LHR have the lowest rates if you’re looking at the cheapest locally. The Birmingham HR has a decent lounge and a Pool, also a great option for the winter Xmas markets.

    Hope that helps!

Left field choice would be to go to a German city (Berlin or Düsseldorf & Cologne) and pick up some of the lesser brands cheaply for a Brand Explorer free night as an extra incentive.

Or you could perhaps do similar in Mallorca.

Thanks everyone. I have a deadline of beginning of October to hit these nights, so I think I may just do a weekend break (2 night-er) at the Hyatt Centric in Cambridge though the reviews aren’t great, and then maybe 2 at the LHR one.

Slightly cheekier question given the desire to bring the price of this mattress run down – if trying to use a Corporate Code for which I’m unable to produce valid ID, what’s the likeliest outcome of this? At the very least, I’d assume they’d try to charge me rack rate. But I’m happy to walk away from the booking (in the case of LHR) and go back home.

Would I be on the hook for a cancellation fee/some other fee/get my account blacklisted?
