Booking a back up flight LHR-MAD using Avios which I will probably cancel as late as possible.
Flight only avaiable on Iberia.
Is there any advantage to booking on BA site rather than Iberia site?
No, in my admittedly limited experience I found the BA site tries to charge for seat selection in Iberia business, which is free if booked on Iberia
The advantageis it will be eaasier dealing with BA as opposed to IB if you do come to cancel.
Not sure but I was under the impression that IB redemptions weren’t cancellable…

They certainly are if booked via BA.
They are also cancelable if booked via IB but their refunds can be very slow.

And IB don’t refund partner rewards at all if the partner isn’t part of IAGsee e.g. this thread (in next post)
