I’m still 💎 today, OH has dropped to Platinum
Clearly no obvious sequence to it, whatever happened to women and children first?
I’m now Platinum as expected, but what I haven’t got yet is my rollover nights. App does still say review in progress.
My status has now reverted to Diamond, but I notice 2 things on my account now:
1. It says I’m Diamond until 31 Dec 2024 and an account review is ongoing.
2. I can see the same ‘Platinum status upgrade’ line item in my account activity that Northernlass can see.
Can’t be much longer. At least I’m not club anymore!
If you see the PLTN line in your Activity tab then a downgrade to Platinum is coming, as sure as night follows day.

Not necessarily, I have earned diamond this year with over 70 nights and still have this line showing.
@Aston100, how have you gone from “Diamonds Are Forever” straight to “Goldfinger”?!

The person I was replying to hadn’t requalified for Diamond though, so this will surely indicate his 2025 status reset. Maybe you have the IHG Premium cardholder status still showing against your account? (that’s the only reason I can think of which would lead to it showing PLTN in the Activities section if you’ve legit qualified for Diamond)
IHG should just have a fixed date, I moved a booking from IHG to Hilton last week as I wasnt taking the risk of turning up to find that I was only platinum.
It is a bit frustrating. If by some quirk of fate or IT I remain Diamond into February, I will be rather annoyed about the non-refundable HIX booking I have in VLC!
I just went into the app to make a booking and had to sign in. Thought that was it. But at the moment diamond is still sparkling.

Wish I’d followed my own advice.

As I suggested in an earlier post, the credit card related entries are automated, and effectively represent the minimum you will get, but are superceded if you also have something else better.
I have a Silver entry from the free card, but have correctly dropped from Diamond to Platinum based on 52 nights last year.

Nothing wrong with slumming now and again @NorthernLass. I find it makes you appreciate the free Hilton breakfast much more.
Yes, I’m at a Hilton in that London on Friday and Saturday night, looking forward to it. 4 nights at HIX (with Amex £75 back) also a cheap 1/5 of the way to a suite upgrade!

Then you have 12 rollover nights into 2025 giving you a head start (unless you earned any via a double night promo that is as they’ll take those into account).
But they won’t count towards this years rewards.
Yep, it’s the rollover nights that I’m waiting for. Shame they don’t also count for the milestones, but will help get me to Platinum again even if no fast track offers come along.
If you’re struggling to get Platinum via nights, does it not make more sense to pay for Ambassador and make sure you get your money back via the free night?
The IHG Rewards scheme is totally useless for tier status without the assistance from a credit/debit card. Surely they must realise it pushes business Hilton’s way?
@AndrewT – they would have counted in 2024. They won’t let you double dip!

Yet I’ve never had an IHG CC and have achieved all my IHG status levels through actually staying in IHG hotels and earnign the likes of lounge passes and F&B vouchers that you only get by putting in the nights.
All I hear bout Hilton is how bad the ;free’ breakfast is because they give it out so easily!
Well that’s just nonsense. Hotels differ greatly for breakfast whether Hilton or IHG.

Just as much nonsnese as your assertion about needing a CC to get IHG status lol
Yep, because too many of their properties are so poor!
My much-extended Creation Diamond status finally lapsed today.
Tbh, the loss gets a nonchalent shrug. After a very average stay in the Kimpton Clocktower recently (gorgeous building but shower where I couldn’t stand upright, coffee stains, chipped paintwork, soulless lighting, cack-handed modernisation of period features, Dr Who-style extra door leading to dirty annex with peeling wallpaper, exceptionally incompetent service, mediocre food), I remembered why I always prefer hotels not affiliated to the big four chains.
There’s a reason the big boys need loyalty schemes. It’s because, frankly, most of their properties are so poor that discerning travellers would otherwise stay away.
I shifted from Diamond to Platinum during the day yesterday. I have Ambassador until the end of this month, so that is correct irrespective of any soft landing criteria, but I’d also had the SILVER and PLTN lines on my statement from the legacy creation cards.
The free breakfast will be missed, and will mean that my stays now get shifted elsewhere. The “buy Diamond” offer I had at the end of last year was too rich for me – I would have bitten at the cheapest tier.
I too no longer sparkle and am Platinum this morning 😩
Yes, they wanted me to buy about $1100 worth of points, but I can buy a lot of breakfasts for that!
*Definitely a soft landing as I only did 22 nights last year and didn’t renew Ambassador.
