Just had an e-mail confirming my status as Diamond until end of December 2024.
My
Ditto here too.
I suspect the IHG intern has recently been moved to the emails department, after they made such a positive impact to redemption bookings with all their favourable new points requirements…
My Ambassador renewal date is 1st Aug and haven’t proceeded with doing that yet. If this email status extension holds then might wait on Amb for a while longer.
I have similarly had my diamond extended to Dec 24 by email, is it linked to the email extending status to ex credit card holders I wonder?

I think that may well be the case. I got the same email saying my Diamond status has been extended, but on the app and web site it still shows as 31/12/23. I then checked my Account Activity and there is an entry for the same date as the email, with the description “IHG Premium Credit Card PLTN Status Upgrade”.
Incidentally, I also got the 4X bonus points for having the credit card on my last stay.So do we think the statuses will update in our accounts any time soon? Just wondering whether P2 needs to renew Ambassador!
Sounds like *anything* which gives you status for next year (be it Ambassador or this credit card guarantee) actually extends your existing level until next year.
I can’t help but feel left out, though – I didn’t get the email for the 2x points promo, can’t register for it and didn’t get any extension either. It’s as if cancelling the card a week before the deadline removed all records of it from IHG’s system.
(And though that makes sense, remember the promo applied to those who had held the card several months earlier, as most of us IHG cardholders would have done!)Sounds like *anything* which gives you status for next year (be it Ambassador or this credit card guarantee) actually extends your existing level until next year.

Mine is already updated!
Do you mean you are already showing a Dec 2024 expiry via online/app/both?
Mine still showing a 2023 expiry on both, despite the recent (card closure) email welcoming me to Diamond with a 2024 expiry, and a new account activity line showing “13/07/2023 IHG Credit Card SILVER Status Upgrade 0 pts”
Mine was showing 31/12/2024 expiry both on the app and online the moment I received the email. And have the same line on my account.
I’m wondering if the extra points from the Creation/FOS cases have triggered the email as IHG’s system thinks we have earned enough to qualify for Diamond next year? How many of us here would fall into that category?

Received the email, app not updated and the above wouldn’t apply to me
IHG says the emails were sent out in error but as a “goodwill gesture” they will honour the offer to extend status to end Dec 2024 so if your account or app hasn’t already been updated then contact IHG.
Thanks for this – I’m still showing 2023. Who exactly do we need to contact – I can imagine the average IHG CS agent not having the first clue about this?!
So I emailed Ambassador yesterday and this morning they have got back to me, confirmed the error and updated my Diamond status to 31/12/24, happy days.

Wow! Must try that too! What’s the email address?

Thanks, this worked for me. Haven’t had a reply yet but my expiry has now been changed to 12/24

+1. Thanks Anna
@Harrier25, it’s ambassador@ihg.com, I don’t know if they check whether you actually are Ambassador before they respond!
Sent email to Ambassador@ihg.com
In under 1hr, had a succesful reply and my expiry date know showing 31/12/24
Winner!

+1 here too on Mrs GG’s account – emailed and got replay in a couple of hours 🙂
That potentially saves an annual Ambassador enrolment fee in order to extend the good old Creation churned Diamond status for another year…
Coupled with the fact that IHG seems unable to actually claim their Ambassador free night voucher once used, their IT truly is the gift that keeps on giving!
P2 paid to renew Ambassador recently and we’ll use his free night, but I’m not going to bother unless the incentives improve – or I need Diamond for 2025!
ICs are now far from the best IHG hotels in a lot of cases and the programme is making less and less sense.I had an email a while back but I deleted it and can’t find it.
I seem to remember it saying I’d be retaining Platinum when I’m actually Diamond so I just ignored & deleted.
May be worth an email to IHG anyway?!

Yep that worked, thanks!
