Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Last time I book a connecting flight from LHR to Man

  • gill321 63 posts

Been sat in Concorde room for 5 hours waiting for our connecting flight to Man. Showing a delay online for most of day of 30 mins – told in CR that online info was incorrect and flight showing on time on their system. Now just appeared on board a delay of 2 hours 45 mins.

Last twice we have done this it has gone wrong.

Finally accepted we will just book the car to collect us as well as dropping off.

No argument. I avoid it as much as I can, it’s a shambles. Not looking forward to Nov when I have to suffer it again

BA tried to ticket a connection that was sub 2 hours, I said make it 3 so I can drink some more wine in the CCR and have at least some chance of making that connection.

Trouble is that it’s the least worst option compared to getting to Euston and suffering Avanti.

We flew from LGW recently, where’s there’s no MAN connection any more, and the drive was 6 hours to go 260 miles. Train would have been as long and not practical with 10 days’ worth of luggage. When flying long haul from LHR I mitigate the risk by flying down the evening before and getting a good night’s sleep at a hotel. On the return, grit our teeth and hope to be home at some point! Whenever it’s an option, book a direct return flight to MAN.

I was in the very pleasant and quiet GLA lounge the other day – serving all of 6 flights on the afternoon I was there! Yet BA can’t provide a dedicated lounge for the same number of departures from MAN, which are always full these days, and can cost £400 for one-way in economy 😱

@NorthernLass – MAG is supposed to be one of the bidders for AGS, the current owners of GLA (as well as ABZ and SOU), so maybe they can ‘upgrade’ Glasgow as well. AGS is jointly owned by Ferrovial, until recently the lead investor of Heathrow.

People here often say Heathrow should be in public ownership but majority public control doesn’t seem to offer much benefit to passengers at Manchester.

@JDB why have you brought MAG into this. We all know MAG are shocking but the councils have nothing to do with operational activity. This thread is about BA’s shoddy service and lack of BA lounge.

BA used to fly to LGW, and LCY and have a perfectly good lounge but they abandoned it all.
