LH are offering status matches for BA and IB 99 euros
Just received an email from statusmatch.com offering BA status benefits in Lufthansa Miles & More.
Is this a new thing?

– Higher waiting list priority
– Status card and baggage tags
– Status benefits on all Star Alliance flights
– Exclusive service hotline
Yes, the latest in the market response to the BA changes, Rob hinted yesterday it was coming. To note it’s €99 for the status match.
One of the funnier emails I’ve received recently, got to say!
All seems a bit early. Surely it’s in 2026 when people loose status that is best time for these offers.
If it was for free, I might, just on the off chance I’d use it before it expires.
But they’re not attractive for my regular destinations, and after the ‘exciting’ changes to rewards flights, I’m glad I gave up on M&M long ago

BA Silver matched to Frequent Traveller… I’ll be passing.

I’d say that’s a mistake that they’ll correct. The IB levels make sense, the BA ones do not.

Why is it a mistake? Lots of BA Silvers vs IB equivalent and are they such attractive prospects?
This is the first test of “loyalty”. Thanks to AMEX (who pioneered) now we leave a data trail of what you spend, when you spend, on what, how often. Combine that with everything social media etc has on you, and BIG companies can pretty much paint your life.
Airlines will be lining up to offer status match, as it costs very little for one year. It won’t take them long to separate the wheat from the chaff, but it will have broken the “loyalty bond” to BA. Loyalty is not easily won, and rarely re-won.

I’d say it isn’t a mistake and they don’t want a load of BA Silvers in the Senator Lounges.
You mean tne Lufthansa that hasjust announed a devaluation ie going dynamic, with lots of questions about how exactly will it work, left unanswered. And the program is a struggle to keep hold of points in in the UK as they keep cancelling them.
Star Alliance is my favourite alliance but only if I’m Gold.
It goes 2 ways…. Everyone follows suit, and takes an axe to their benefits. Or you hold out and pick up the spoils.
Unless any loyalty programme was a net loss (unlikely) then this is a loyalty vs profit gamble. Airlines must know that a +1% loading factor is free money. Not quite sure where the thinking is…
I applied for a status match using this promotion yesterday for both myself and my partner; we are both BA Gold. I’ve not heard back about mine yet, but this morning my partner had an email telling him his was declined. Our various airline loyalty accounts are the same as each others’ in terms of travel and status, so I’m guessing mine will be declined too. Not sure why – we did a status match from BA > TK last year (who of course are also Star Alliance) so could that be it?
Also does anyone know if you’re declined do Miles & More return the €99 fee? I’d be pretty miffed to lose that
