We have just reached platinum status with Marriott and would really appreciate hearing any reviews or suggestions for Marriott properties where the benefits are really good such as lounge or upgrades. We also have the SNA.
My husband and and I travel once or twice per month round various places in Europe and and take around 3 long haul trips per year (except US), so open to most suggestions.
Our next trip is Amsterdam for mid September and I have booked the Amsterdam Marriott hotel and applied for SNA.
Any advice much appreciated.
Here’s a trick. You can book multiple hotels for the same night (flex rate), apply a SNA to all of them, wait for them to clear and keep the one you prefer. Other bookings can then be cancelled.
Handy given that they can vary hugely in what you get. I was planning an article on what my 13 SNA used this year got me!
PS. Pre covid Marriott Berlin had one of the best lounges in Europe and in general this is one of the best Marriott-branded hotels.
I’m a fan of the autograph collection hotels for making the most out of platinum, each one I’ve stayed at has given great upgrades across several categories without prompting and the breakfast benefit ends up being a full restaurant breakfast rather than a few pastries in the lounge. My 2 favourites this year have been the Gewandhaus in Dresden which was a great hotel with a great breakfast and Roomers Baden-Baden, where we got a huge upgrade to an amazing suite.
I know Rob has reviewed it a few times now but the St Regis New York I’ve found to be great for platinum recognition. The room upgrade was to a massive 120 m2 suite, the breakfast credit goes quite a long way and they were the most proactive hotel I’ve encountered with the 4pm guaranteed late checkout (I forgot to ask at check in about it so when we stopped by later in the day and asked about it the staff said it was already done when we checked in).

Thank you this is really helpful!
