Melia Birthday Upgrade Voucher

anyone able to tell me how to use the Birthday upgrade voucher with Melia? I have a booking at the ME London but I can’t seem to find an option to use the voucher when checking in online in my app.

Did you opt for the upgrade voucher? You’d have received an email after your birthday offering two options – an upgrade or a discount and you’ll have to choose within 3 months.

Yeah I have it in my vouchers section of my app, but I there’s no option to use it at check in – only for me to enter my passport details. I also had a stay booked back in May at the Melia Barcelona Sky and also wasn’t able to use it. For reference my birthday is in December.

Wouldn’t the combined 24% discount through the app be a better option, unless there’s a huge price difference between the two room categories and it’s a very short stay?

If I recall I think I did it after booking. Booked on the app but then logged in through the website and added voucher. Have you tried that?

No I haven’t tried the website, don’t have access to a laptop at the moment. It’s not a big deal I booked an upgraded room anyways, just wanted to know if I was doing anything wrong.

I don’t think you are doing anything wrong, so not sure why it’s not working for you. I used mine recently in Rome, and it just came up as an option when doing online check-in on the app. Unless it is because there are no upgraded rooms available perhaps?

I’ve never been able to use mine.

Earlier this year was on the ball for Melia stay but had to wait for online check-in to open. However I was between flights and no time to connect to do it (app takes forever to load) and then once landed tried to do it but was too late as has to be done more than 24h? before stay.

Just now stayed at a Dol property no changing flights beforehand so was on app at right time etc but nothing appeared at checkin and then said I was checked in already. So not sure if voucher valid at Sols, or was just the app causing endless issues…

Currently at a Melia and we checked-in online using the app 48 hours before. Alas a little sign at the top of the window notified us that the hotel was full, so they couldn’t honour any kind of upgrade.

Tbh I haven’t really heard much success in use of this upgrade but then again I am in a holiday resort in prime season, so I wasn’t really expecting anything anyway.
