MMB?

Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points
Hi.
I didn’t really know where to put this query so apologies if it’s in the wrong area.
I’ve been reading HfP for a few years even though I am not a regular flyer. One thing that I have noticed in general discussions about crediting flights to a different Oneworld frequent flyer program than the airline you are flying from is a number of references to MMB. I’m assuming, but don’t know for sure, that this is referring to “Manage my booking”? The references often refer to using Finnair website even if Finnair is neither the carrier or the FF program that you are crediting.
Anyway, as I’ve recently done the hotel status match to RJ (just the silver level) and booked flights on Qatar airways, I thought that I would be able to go to the Finnair website and go to “Manage Booking” and be able to access my QR booking – but I can’t. Entering the booking reference and surname only comes up with an error. I also, apparently foolishly, thought that I would be able to access the booking via my RJ account – but I can’t.
Of course, this is probably old hat for the regulars on here but I am completely befuddled by it. I am obviously misunderstanding the whole Finnair/MMB thing so it would be great if someone could either explain it properly to me (assume I know nothing – it will be a reasonable assumption) or point me to an article that explains it all.
I’ve tried a search of the main HfP website hoping to find an article on it, but that didn’t prove to be fruitful.
Thanks in advance for any help that can be given.
Yes, MMB is Manage My Booking. Both Finnair and Royal Air Maroc have been suggested as sites where you can manage bookings on other carriers, but I could get neither to work for a recent BA booking. YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary – aka you may have a different experience).
My workaround was messaging BA on Messenger and they added my RJ number manually – I’m sure you could do the same through a call to Qatar.
Finnair mo longer allow people to use their system to change their numbers on other airlines bookings.
Coincidentally this happened when the RJ offer launched last year …
@phantomchickenz, thanks for the info. I have actually managed to make the booking with my RJ FF number as I booked on the QR website as a guest. I was just trying to work out how to do the things that I had read about – apparently I can’t anymore!
@BA Flyer IHG Stayer, ah, at least I know that it isn’t me messing it up (which, in itself, is unusual!)
Thanks for both the replies
Presumably, if I log into my QR account and add the booking to that, it won’t automatically change my FF to my QR one?
I appreciate that people may not know that answer as they probably have never tried it 😂
I don’t see why it would. If it does, ask them to change it back.
