The terms talk about multi sector use. I guess eg, BA London Singapore Sydney ( I’d call it a stop over.)
Anybody worked out how, you could stop over East Coast US,before flying on to the West Coast ? Business all the way.
It’s a layover if less than 24 hours. If greater than 24 hours, it’s a stopover.
The voucher can only be used on BA metal, so a stopover in US is not possible. You can book an open jaw though and book a transcon ticket separately.
Thanks…know that, but multi sector is not spelt out.ie A couple of weeks in Singapore on the way to Aus makes it a stop over in my book.Or is it a layover only on multi sector?
What route are you looking to book, exactly? As @BB says, a multi-sector redemption in the US with the BC voucher would be unlikely because the connecting flight would not be on BA. It might be different for LHR-SIN-SYD all on BA metal.
We were thinking of using the B’card voucher, one way, to use as many BA multi sectors as possible to get to Sydney, and see what the agents say. I see nothing in the terms about any multi sector restrictions.
Given it can only be used in BA metal departing the UK to get to SYD you are restricted to using the BA LHR-SIN-SYD routing.
As to how long you can spend in SIN I think you’re going to have to call BA as it’s likely there will be a restriction on how long before the SIN-SYD leg is no longer ex-UK (allowed) but ex-SIN (not allowed).
Alternatively have a play around with doimg online dummy bookings to see what the website will allow.
In the event, would not the SIN-SYD become 5th freedom ?
In the event, would not the SIN-SYD become 5th freedom ?
BA’s fifth freedom rights don’t have any impact or relevance to your use of the voucher.
While the terms allow multi-sector bookings I think they largely envisage domestic connections rather than the very limited number of BA continuing service routes mainly limited to the Caribbean, SYD and EZE.
If BA allows you to use it in the manner you wish, that’s good but they may charge per sector (as has been reported here before). If they don’t, there’s really no come back.
