Thanks @Michael_C and @QwertyKnowsBest, we’re big fans of Indian food so I’m deliberating between Gymkhana and Brigadiers, glad to hear that I’m not missing out at Mere!
I think Gymkhana hands down between the 2. But even more so on a Saturday lunch, when the whole Brigadiers area will feel particularly sterile and empty.
Agree with you about the gymkhana.Food was excellent.. Even though I used the dining credit last time I’m planning to visit again.
I recommend the £44 lunch menu
If two of you are going then can order different dishes so that you can taste both .
Any recommendations for a Saturday lunch in London please somewhere with great service? For two meat and fish eaters but one with a shellfish allergy (went to Yauatcha City in Broadgate Circus as a first meal out post-Covid and unfortunately the only thing on the menu they could guarantee as completely safe was the sweet and sour pork – won’t make that mistake again!) Have been to Hawksmoor and the Ivy many times so keen for something new. Fancied Mere as they have a new lunch menu that’s competitively priced but unfortunately the recent reviews aren’t great!
We love Kahani. Relaxed but professional service, lovely ambience and delicious food.
How long are overseas credits taking? Used the card at Scmapo in Boston, it was OK but nothing special. It’s on the list, I used the card directly and have a copy of the receipt.
I used it in Gothenburg recently at 3 restaurants – a Pan-Asian one called Toso – transaction 4th, credited 6th; Tavolo (an Italian with a large horse in the middle of the restaurant!) – transaction 30th, credited 2nd. And Tranquilo (a casual Mexican restaurant) – transaction 29th, credited 2nd.

Ta.
Scampo Boston is on the list, I used my Amex in the restaurant but it hasn’t triggered because the restaurant used a centralised payment system. Yet another offer that needs chasing, good job I have the receipt with the name of the restaurant and the address. I also have Lyft receipts to show that’s where I went that evening. From what I’ve read the USA is the one place to avoid using the credit if you can.

Could you tell me what you thought of each, pls? We’ll be there in May!
And if I can sneak in a “has anyone used it in Miami”?!
Does anyone have experience buying a voucher for a restaurant in NYC which will definitely trigger the £150 abroad dining credit? Thanks!

Apologies for the delay – I enjoyed all three – Tavolo is just a delightful space, with excellent food. Toso, again, really great food – some excellent sushi, dumplings etc. Tranquilo – reasonable Mexican food, but in a casual/relaxed environment. If ranking, I’d go in that order.
Used our dining credit for a lunch at Colbert in Sloane Square yesterday (unfortunately couldn’t get a Gymkhana reservation – am making one for early 2024 to take advantage of next year’s credit!). Delicious French cuisine and excellent portion sizes. Service was a bit haphazard (waitress only brought the glass of malbec my OH ordered with his main just as he was finishing the last mouthful…) and the place was absolutely rammed – the queue for walk ins was outside the door. I think the horrendous rain probably had something to do with the busyness! We had a drink at the bar for 30 mins before we got a table. It was quite noisy and the tables are close together but we enjoyed the lively atmosphere. Bill came to £158 for 1 cocktail, 1 glass of wine, 2 pints, 2 starters, 2 mains and 1 side.
Looking for Paris recommendations.
Staying at the Hoxton so nearby preferable
Any recommendations for the Madrid restaurants please?

I have been looking at this for December – last chance for my wife to use her credit and the choice is poor. There are 16 restaurants on the Plat list, and 130 in the Michelin but only one in common – Corral La Morería. The Michelin isn’t the be all and end all but it’s a generally very reliable guide with restaurants right across the price spectrum.
I did look at the other fifteen (although not all are really restaurants) and struggled! The majority form part of two chains and either look like no gos or very expensive vs. quality/reality.

Difficult to know what you’re looking for or what your tastes are, but if you want decent steak have a look at Colver Grill which isn’t too far frm your hotel. We used it at lunchtime befoe the rugby a couple of weeks back and it was good. Laid back at lunchtime and happy to play along with the well behaved rugby crowd that were in for pre-match steak and red wine.
In Hamburg last weekend I went for dinner on Sunday evening at the Grill Royal.
This is an upscale restaurant overlooking the Binnenalster, almost next door to the (very grand) Hapag-Lloyd building.
I would say when I turned up at 8pm, the restaurant was 1/3rd full. A quiet but still nice atmosphere.
Service was excellent.
I had a martini, some Sylt bread, a mozzarella and tomato starter, a very decent steak, chips, spinach, two glasses of St Emilion, a sorbet and an espresso. Total bill was €166.
The only slight negatives were an olive in my martini (I’d requested a twist) and being charged €2 for mustard.
Other than that, recommended if you want a nice place to eat in Hamburg!
Has anyone been to Oxenstiernan in Stockholm? I’ve booked dinner there in late November, keen to hear reviews
Not sure if anyone ever asked this.. no results with search.
Is there any cheeky way to make any use of these credits if living on the island of Ireland? Nothing in Dublin or Belfast.. which is quite strange to me. Especially Dublin being excluded too. Is there some way to maybe use the credit on a gift card for a future use and stack up for future trips etc?

I went there for lunch in May, paying myself, not using Plat credit so can have a more critical eye. I never do recommendations, but the test for me is whether I would go back and I definitely would.
It’s a bit difficult to find from the street address as it is in a small park. The dining room is big, light and airy in the day and I think it would be nice in the evening as well. It’s far from glitzy and buzzy, but has perhaps a more homely or ‘real’ atmosphere. The menu is fairly short and is very focussed on simple fresh local produce, particularly vegetables (but definitely not vegetarian) very well prepared without fussiness and the service is very good. My positive predisposition was greatly aided by a delicious apple gimlet while looking at the menu!
The other restaurants I visited that I would also go back to were Matbaren which is very smart with very interesting high quality food, and Babette and Bar Agrikultur which are both very crowded lively, younger vibe places with very eclectic modern food. Although they are all very different sorts of places, the bill was fairly similar in each place which means rather expensive like most things in Stockholm.
@JDB thank you for this illuminating review, I’m pleased to hear that you would go back. I was attracted by the small menu with a clear focus on locally sourced produce and sense of the relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant. We are going for dinner on a Saturday evening so I will certainly be partaking in an apple gimlet! I will have a look at the other places you’ve enjoyed previously.
The £150 for Scampo in Boston is now showing under savings on my account so I expect the credit to be applied in the next day or so. It took Amex two weeks and required escalation because, even though I have a receipt with the name and address of the restaurant on it, the location where the transaction was registered was about 200 miles away.

I recently had dinner at OMAKA in Stockholm – a modern restaurant located in a brewery, but excellent food. I would certainly return.
Hi all, has The Colony Grill Room at Beaumont Hotel been fixed? I remember reading issues with getting the credit last year.
Went to JOLA in Vienna last night, and it was spectacular! Hadn’t realised it was vegan when I booked it, or indeed until we were about 5 dishes into the 13-course tasting menu. I often eat vegetarian/vegan, but have never had anything at this standard before. Strong recommend.
Does anyone know if the Ivy Asia bills as the Ivy and generates the statement credit? Thanks.

Yes it does. Else pop into the Ivy, get a gift card, which will trigger the credit and use the gift card in Asia if you are worried at all. However i’ve done Ivy Asia in London and it did trigger.
