For those of you travelling with family its to make you aware of a recent unannounced change in the Lounge policy at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead.
Got there last Friday night for the footie weekend and a sign in the lobby – no kids in the lounge.
Raging as not on website or the welcome letter.
And it’s not just at alcohol time it’s no access during all the opening hours.
It’s due to a recent health and safety issue and will be be a permanent decision.
Web and app information to be updated.

If not advised in advance, I’d be asking for alternative provision, F&B credit etc. If already post stay, I’d seek some compensation.

Sounds like a lounge to visit. Wish more would follow this path

It’s a beautiful lounge, with views over the river. Even better with no kids.
    Food offering pretty crap though.

I’ll be there in October, staying at the brilliant value DT on site.

Presumably this is the lounge BA passengers use? I’d be asking for a big chunk of avios if I’d paid for 3/4 CE seats and couldn’t use the lounge with my family.

However, personally it sounds like I’ll enjoy it! I wonder if they had to choose between having children or alcohol?! When you think about it, anyone could theoretically help themselves to self-pour wine and spirits 😮 🍸

@NorthernLass, you’ve got confused. This is the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead that’s being discussed. Nothing to do with the airport.

For as long as I can remember, this hotel has not allowed under 18’s in the lounge during “happy hour”.
