Just tried to cancel a couple of short haul RFS flights and whereas in the past it’s been automatic (and cost £0.50pp), this time I received a message that the calculation of the refund would be performed manually and I would receive an email later confirming what would be refunded. Has anyone else had this? I’m wondering if BA have started manually processing these to collect the £17.50pp on cancellation they haven’t been able to since RFS started.
Had you or had BA made any changes to the booking?
If so that does seem to trigger manual process.
I’ve had that message a couple of times and still got everything refunded minus 50p pp, the last time was about a month ago.

Ah ok thanks, flight times have changed on these flights so that is probably the reason.

Good to know thank you.
I cancelled one a few weeks ago, it needed chasing and cost me £35pp which is what I expected. Quick question, was this BA or Euroflyer?

BA flights – LHR to GLA
@strickers, so did you have to speak to BA to cancel? If so, that sounds like they applied the actual rules whereas the IT system is still only charging 50p!
No, I cancelled online but had to chase the refund of both Avios and cash.
There’s a post on this thread about flights with schedule changes being coded differently hence the inability to automatically cancel online. If you call up and ask them to recode it the ability to cancel online reappears and you can then cancel as normal (which seems to still be for 50p on short haul). I did this recently.

Interesting – I hadn’t appreciated you could do that. Thank you!
@ns No schedule change on mine.
Would be helpful if you said what sort of ticket it was ahort or long for example as the admin fee is different.
Short haul, Gatwick-Malta with EuroFlyer, CE out ET back. Paid more than £35 each under the Avios options so expected £35 each cancellation although I’d have been happier with 50p each.
