Forums Payment cards American Express Platinum Insurance

I recently booked a trip to Morocco for next week and because of an injury need to cancel. Flight booked using Amex so that should be okay but the hotels were booked through booking.com using Curve fronted Virgin card (to avoid FX charges), any idea if my Amex Plat insurance will cover these? The Amex insurance office is closed over the weekend so I can’t get a definitive answer despite Amexs best efforts online.
The payments haven’t been taken as yet but they’re non-cancellable so I expect they will be, the hotels don’t seem to be able to move, they’re not chains so I’ve no clout.
Any advice would be gratefully received!

The cancellation/postponement section of the Platinum requires use of the card/an Amex card for you to be covered. This is stated in the policy document at 3. Eligibility. The FX fee is, in essence, your insurance premium in these circumstances.

Based on my experience in previous claims, Amex are strict on the rule which JDB states. The best you can do is try and speak to the hotels directly, explain the situation and ask if they would refund or at least move the booking.
