Similar to Blindman67, spent a little more, no retention offer
Pretty certain the retention offers are system generated. Agents have no discretion.
Another interesting datapoint – I took the card out in October 2021 and was offered 50k MR today when I asked to downgrade to gold. They did cite a relationship of a few years so I think that it’s not just time with platinum, but more time with Amex in general and spend history that counts

Agents always cite my “long” relationship with Amex (which they claim dates back to 2018, although none of my cards have that date in them), whether is to close, ask for a retention offer, complaint about an offer or ask how they are doing. So, mentions of that probably don’t matter much.
35k received today on the phone to Brighton. Same as I got last year too.
Just used chat last night and was offered 50k. I also got 75k around a year ago as another retention offer so I really wasn’t expecting to score another this time around.

Is there any data points for Gold preferred card version? Pending renewal, would stay for a good offer or 2x or more points for a period of time

I was offered 10k Avios for spending £3000 in 3 months.

Hi PID would you say you received the retention bonus within 12 months of the last bonus? I am currently waiting for my renewal in Feb but thought I should wait – not sure what everyone else things? Should I wait until the 12 months are up or can I call now?

Agent stated 24-48 hours, which it has been longer than now. Anyone got any recent data points on if this is normal and how long it should take to show on my balance?

Gold charge card. Just had 1 year bonus 10k points for spending £15k. Offered 20k points with no spend required
Have people just been asking for a retention offer straight up on chat/phone? Or has it been in conversation? My Gold Charge is up for renewal soon so may be worth asking, just wanted to know the best approach.

It was roughly 12 months as both times I used the fact that the annual payment was due for a reason to consider leaving.
Offered 35k MR on my Platinum Card via chat. Said I was disappointed as never had a retention bonus and told it’s based on spend.
Was quoted this “(35k MR = £157, over 25% of annual fee)” – I found their valuation interesting.

That’s based on their £4.50/1000MR statement credit burn rate – £157.50 to be precise.
Just got offered nothing (new card taken out October – probably £3k spend) – had started chat to complain that still hadn’t received Priority pass and so benefits weren’t much use. Ended up cancelling as wont be travelling until July – will then use a referral bonus to get again.
