Qatar Avios for using companion voucher for a BA flight

Hi All,

I am in a peculiar situation. I have tons of Amex points in an India Amex – and they recently upgraded their systems. There is a glitch in the systems and it is not allowing to transfer points to British Airways Avios. But allows to transfer to Qatar Avios. I need to book a business class companion voucher based flights on BA.

Can I do

Transfer Amex India to Qatar Avios (will need to create a new account)
Then transfer Qatar Avios to British Airways Avios or book British airways companion voucher and use the points from both my BA acount and Qatar account?

Don’t see why not. Try a minimum transfer to see if it all works. I’ve transferred to Qatar – BA with no problems once the accounts are linked.

I agree with Molly but you will have to transfer the Avios from Qatar to BAEC if you want to use the companion voucher as that is only on BA metal.

Just a quick update – It worked like a charm. It took literally less than a minute to move from Amex to Qatar and another min to move from Qatar to BA.

The min amount though was 1000 Avios.
